Book Synopsis Quasi-Static Viscoelasticity Loading Measurements of an Aircraft Tire by : Angela J. Mason
Download or read book Quasi-Static Viscoelasticity Loading Measurements of an Aircraft Tire written by Angela J. Mason and published by . This book was released on 1997 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stair-step loading, cyclic loading, and long-term relaxation tests were performed on an aircraft tire to observe the quasi-static viscoelastic response of the tire. The data indicate that the tire continues to respond viscoelastically even after it has been softened by deformation. Load relaxation data from the stair-step test at the 15000-lb loading was fit to a monotonically decreasing Prony series.

This book was released on 2000-06-26 with total page 431 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The tenth conference on The Mathematics of Finite Elements and Applications, MAFELAP 1999, was held at Brunel University during the period 22-25 June, 1999. This book seeks to highlight certain aspects of the state-of-the-art theory and applications of finite element methods of that time. This latest conference, in the MAFELAP series, followed the well established MAFELAP pattern of bringing together mathematicians, engineers and others interested in the field to discuss finite element techniques. In the MAFELAP context finite elements have always been interpreted in a broad and inclusive manner, including techniques such as finite difference, finite volume and boundary element methods as well as actual finite element methods. Twenty-six papers were carefully selected for this book out of the 180 presentations made at the conference, and all of these reflect this style and approach to finite elements. The increasing importance of modelling, in addition to numerical discretization, error estimation and adaptivity was also studied in MAFELAP 1999.

Book Synopsis Structure and Mechanics of Textile Fibre Assemblies by : Peter Schwartz
Download or read book Structure and Mechanics of Textile Fibre Assemblies written by Peter Schwartz and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2008-10-07 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Textile structure and mechanics are fundamental to the way textiles are designed, manufactured, tested and used. Structure and mechanics of textile fibre assemblies discusses aspects of fabric structure and mechanical properties such as tensile, bending and shear properties for a range of fabrics. After a general introduction illustrating the role of fabric structure and mechanics, subsequent chapters discuss the structural, tensile, bending and shear properties of woven, knitted and nonwoven fabrics. Other chapters review the structure and mechanics of yarns, coated fabrics, 2D and 3D textile composites. Testing methods for the measurement of fabric mechanical properties and structure parameters are also explored. With its renowned editor and contributions from some of the world's leading authorities, Structure and mechanics of textile fibre assemblies is an important reference for textile scientists, technologists, engineers and those designing and manufacturing textiles. It will also be suitable for those within the academic sector. - Examines aspects of fabric structure and mechanical properties for a range of fabrics - Discusses structure and mechanics of yarn and woven, nonwoven and knitted fabrics - Explores testing methods enabling the measurement of fabric mechanical properties and structural parameters

This book was released on 2018-06-04 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An elastic large displacement thick-shell mixed finite element is modified to allow for the calculation of viscoelastic stresses. Internal strain variables are introduced at the element's stress nodes and are employed to construct a viscous material model. First order ordinary differential equations relate the internal strain variables to the corresponding elastic strains at the stress nodes. The viscous stresses are computed from the internal strain variables using viscous moduli which are a fraction of the elastic moduli. The energy dissipated by the action of the viscous stresses is included in the mixed variational functional. The nonlinear quasi-static viscous equilibrium equations are then obtained. Previously developed Taylor expansions of the nonlinear elastic equilibrium equations are modified to include the viscous terms. A predictor-corrector time marching solution algorithm is employed to solve the algebraic-differential equations. The viscous shell element is employed to computationally simulate a stair-step loading and unloading of an aircraft tire in contact with a frictionless surface.Johnson, Arthur R. and Tanner, John A. and Mason, Angela J.Langley Research CenterFINITE ELEMENT METHOD; AIRCRAFT TIRES; VISCOELASTICITY; MATHEMATICAL MODELS; ELASTIC SHELLS; DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS; PREDICTOR-CORRECTOR METHODS; STRESS ANALYSIS; MODULUS OF ELASTICITY; EQUILIBRIUM EQUATIONS; ALGORITHMS; NONLINEAR EQUATIONS
