Book excerpt: The purpose of this thesis is to concentrate on one condition that makes a ring into a Quasi-Frobenius ring, namely self-injectivity, with an eye on giving as many examples of self injective rings as possible. Each chapter of this thesis is built around some known results in the algebra of modules and rings. Chapter one develops some basic concepts in Algebra: Radical of a module, Homologicai concepts, semi-simple rings and modules, modules of finite length, semi-perfect and perfect rings, Frobenius, Quasi-Frobenius, and pseudo Frobenius rings. Chapter two discusses self-injectivity of Endomorphism rings of modules. In chapter three, Faith shows that any ring with an injective bimodule E such that B is cannonically isomorphic to the endomorphism ring of E as a right B-module is isomorphic to a factor ring RfE where R is a right self-injective ring, which leads to new examples of self-ijective rings and used to constuct a left Pseudo-Fro benius ring which is not right Pseudo-Frobenius ring. Lastly, chapter four is an illustration of Levy's example of a non self-injective ring whose homorphic images are self-injective.

Since then, these classical artinian rings have continued to fascinate ring theorists with their abundance of properties and structural depth. In 1978, M Harada introduced a new class of artinian rings which were later called Harada rings in his honour. Quasi-Frobenius rings, Nakayama rings and Harada rings are very closely interrelated. As a result, from a new perspective, we may study the classical artinian rings through their interaction and overlap with Harada rings. The objective of this seminal work is to present the structure of Harada rings and provide important applications of this structure to the classical artinian rings. In the process, we cover many topics on artinian rings, using a wide variety of concepts from the theory of rings and modules.
