This book was released on 2001-11-30 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Functional integration is one of the most powerful methods of contempo rary theoretical physics, enabling us to simplify, accelerate, and make clearer the process of the theoretician's analytical work. Interest in this method and the endeavour to master it creatively grows incessantly. This book presents a study of the application of functional integration methods to a wide range of contemporary theoretical physics problems. The concept of a functional integral is introduced as a method of quantizing finite-dimensional mechanical systems, as an alternative to ordinary quantum mechanics. The problems of systems quantization with constraints and the manifolds quantization are presented here for the first time in a monograph. The application of the functional integration methods to systems with an infinite number of degrees of freedom allows one to uniquely introduce and formulate the diagram perturbation theory in quantum field theory and statistical physics. This approach is significantly simpler than the widely accepted method using an operator approach.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A unique approach to quantum field theory, with emphasis on the principles of renormalization Quantum field theory is frequently approached from the perspective of particle physics. This book adopts a more general point of view and includes applications of condensed matter physics. Written by a highly respected writer and researcher, it first develops traditional concepts, including Feynman graphs, before moving on to key topics such as functional integrals, statistical mechanics, and Wilson's renormalization group. The connection between the latter and conventional perturbative renormalization is explained. Quantum Field Theory is an exceptional textbook for graduate students familiar with advanced quantum mechanics as well as physicists with an interest in theoretical physics. It features: * Coverage of quantum electrodynamics with practical calculations and a discussion of perturbative renormalization * A discussion of the Feynman path integrals and a host of current subjects, including the physical approach to renormalization, spontaneous symmetry breaking and superfluidity, and topological excitations * Nineteen self-contained chapters with exercises, supplemented with graphs and charts
Book Synopsis Quantum Field Theory and Functional Integrals by : Nima Moshayedi
Download or read book Quantum Field Theory and Functional Integrals written by Nima Moshayedi and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-07-17 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Described here is Feynman's path integral approach to quantum mechanics and quantum field theory from a functional integral point of view. Therein lies the main focus of Euclidean field theory. The notion of Gaussian measure and the construction of the Wiener measure are covered. As well, the notion of classical mechanics and the Schrödinger picture of quantum mechanics are recalled. There, the equivalence to the path integral formalism is shown by deriving the quantum mechanical propagator from it. Additionally, an introduction to elements of constructive quantum field theory is provided for readers.

Book Synopsis Lectures on Quantum Field Theory and Functional Integration by : Zbigniew Haba
Download or read book Lectures on Quantum Field Theory and Functional Integration written by Zbigniew Haba and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-05-29 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers a concise introduction to quantum field theory and functional integration for students of physics and mathematics. Its aim is to explain mathematical methods developed in the 1970s and 1980s and apply these methods to standard models of quantum field theory. In contrast to other textbooks on quantum field theory, this book treats functional integration as a rigorous mathematical tool. More emphasis is placed on the mathematical framework as opposed to applications to particle physics. It is stressed that the functional integral approach, unlike the operator framework, is suitable for numerical simulations. The book arose from the author's teaching in Wroclaw and preserves the form of his lectures. So some topics are treated as an introduction to the problem rather than a complete solution with all details. Some of the mathematical methods described in the book resulted from the author's own research.

Download or read book Field Theory written by Ashok Das and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1993 with total page 420 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Traditionally, field theory is taught through canonical quantization with a heavy emphasis on high energy physics. However, the techniques of field theory are applicable as well and are extensively used in various other areas of physics such as consdensed matter, nuclear physics and statistical mechanics. The path integral approach brings out this feature most clearly. In this book, the path integral approach is developed in detail completely within the context of quantum mechanics. Subsequently, it is applied to various areas of physics.

It discusses the general physical background and concepts of the path integral approach used, followed by a detailed presentation of the most typical and important applications as well as problems with either their solutions or hints how to solve them. Each chapter is self-contained and can be considered as an independent textbook. It provides a comprehensive, detailed, and systematic account of the subject suitable for both students and experienced researchers.

Download or read book An Introduction To Quantum Field Theory written by Michael E. Peskin and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-05-04 with total page 866 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An Introduction to Quantum Field Theory is a textbook intended for the graduate physics course covering relativistic quantum mechanics, quantum electrodynamics, and Feynman diagrams. The authors make these subjects accessible through carefully worked examples illustrating the technical aspects of the subject, and intuitive explanations of what is going on behind the mathematics. After presenting the basics of quantum electrodynamics, the authors discuss the theory of renormalization and its relation to statistical mechanics, and introduce the renormalization group. This discussion sets the stage for a discussion of the physical principles that underlie the fundamental interactions of elementary particle physics and their description by gauge field theories.
