- Model-based performance prediction is a well-known concept to ensure the quality of software. Current approaches are based on a single-metric model, which leads to inaccurate predictions for modern architectures. This thesis presents a multi-strategies approach to extend performance prediction models to support multicore architectures. We implemented the strategies into Palladio and significantly increased the performance prediction power.

This book was released on 2022-06-30 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: IoT applications perceive and interact with the environment via smart devices and cloud services. When operating such applications one is faced with the challenge of configuring the smart devices and the cloud services in a manner, which achieves a high data quality at low operational costs. This work supports IoT operators with IoT collection strategies and cost optimization functions for data qualities, which are influenced by the interplay of smart device and cloud service configurations.
Book Synopsis Consistent View-Based Management of Variability in Space and Time by : Ananieva, Sofia
Download or read book Consistent View-Based Management of Variability in Space and Time written by Ananieva, Sofia and published by KIT Scientific Publishing. This book was released on 2022-12-06 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Developing variable systems faces many challenges. Dependencies between interrelated artifacts within a product variant, such as code or diagrams, across product variants and across their revisions quickly lead to inconsistencies during evolution. This work provides a unification of common concepts and operations for variability management, identifies variability-related inconsistencies and presents an approach for view-based consistency preservation of variable systems.
Book Synopsis Building Transformation Networks for Consistent Evolution of Interrelated Models by : Klare, Heiko
Download or read book Building Transformation Networks for Consistent Evolution of Interrelated Models written by Klare, Heiko and published by KIT Scientific Publishing. This book was released on 2022-03-24 with total page 596 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Complex software systems are described with multiple artifacts, such as code, design diagrams and others. Ensuring their consistency is crucial and can be automated with transformations for pairs of artifacts. We investigate how developers can combine independently developed and reusable transformations to networks that preserve consistency between more than two artifacts. We identify synchronization, compatibility and orchestration as central challenges, and we develop approaches to solve them.
Book Synopsis Architectural Data Flow Analysis for Detecting Violations of Confidentiality Requirements by : Seifermann, Stephan
Download or read book Architectural Data Flow Analysis for Detecting Violations of Confidentiality Requirements written by Seifermann, Stephan and published by KIT Scientific Publishing. This book was released on 2022-12-09 with total page 412 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Software vendors must consider confidentiality especially while creating software architectures because decisions made here are hard to change later. Our approach represents and analyzes data flows in software architectures. Systems specify data flows and confidentiality requirements specify limitations of data flows. Software architects use detected violations of these limitations to improve the system. We demonstrate how to integrate our approach into existing development processes.
Book Synopsis Architectural Alignment of Access Control Requirements Extracted from Business Processes by : Pilipchuk, Roman
Download or read book Architectural Alignment of Access Control Requirements Extracted from Business Processes written by Pilipchuk, Roman and published by KIT Scientific Publishing. This book was released on 2023-01-27 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Business processes and information systems evolve constantly and affect each other in non-trivial ways. Aligning security requirements between both is a challenging task. This work presents an automated approach to extract access control requirements from business processes with the purpose of transforming them into a) access permissions for role-based access control and b) architectural data flow constraints to identify violations of access control in enterprise application architectures.

Book Synopsis Model-Driven Architecture in Practice by : Oscar Pastor
Download or read book Model-Driven Architecture in Practice written by Oscar Pastor and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-06-14 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces all the relevant information required to understand and put Model Driven Architecture (MDA) into industrial practice. It clearly explains which conceptual primitives should be present in a system specification, how to use UML to properly represent this subset of basic conceptual constructs, how to identify just those diagrams and modeling constructs that are actually required to create a meaningful conceptual schema, and how to accomplish the transformation process between the problem space and the solution space. The approach is fully supported by commercially available tools.
Book Synopsis Quality of Software Architectures Models and Architectures by : Steffen Becker
Download or read book Quality of Software Architectures Models and Architectures written by Steffen Becker and published by Springer. This book was released on 2008-10-10 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Models are used in all kinds of engineering disciplines to abstract from the various details of the modelled entity in order to focus on a speci?c aspect. Like a blueprint in civil engineering, a software architecture providesan abstraction from the full software system’s complexity. It allows software designers to get an overview on the system underdevelopmentandtoanalyzeitsproperties.Inthissense, modelsarethefoundation needed for software development to become a true engineering discipline. Especially when reasoning on a software system’s extra-functional properties, its software architecture carries the necessary information for early, design-time analyses. These analyses take the software architecture as input and can be used to direct the design process by allowing a systematic evaluation of different design alternatives. For example, they can be used to cancel out decisions which would lead to architecture - signs whose implementation would not comply with extra-functionalrequirements like performance or reliability constraints. Besides such quality attributes directly visible to the end user, internal quality attributes, e.g., maintainability, also highly depend on the system’s architecture. In addition to the above-mentioned technical aspects of software architecture m- els, non-technical aspects, especially project management-related activities, require an explicit software architecture model. The models are used as input for cost esti- tions, time-, deadline-, and resource planning for the development teams. They serve the project management activities of planning, executing, and controlling, which are necessary to deliver high-quality software systems in time and within the budget.
