Book Synopsis Modules over Non-Noetherian Domains by : László Fuchs
Download or read book Modules over Non-Noetherian Domains written by László Fuchs and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2001 with total page 633 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, the authors present both traditional and modern discoveries in the subject area, concentrating on advanced aspects of the topic. Existing material is studied in detail, including finitely generated modules, projective and injective modules, and the theory of torsion and torsion-free modules. Some topics are treated from a new point of view. Also included are areas not found in current texts, for example, pure-injectivity, divisible modules, uniserial modules, etc. Special emphasis is given to results that are valid over arbitrary domains. The authors concentrate on modules over valuation and Prüfer domains, but also discuss Krull and Matlis domains, h-local, reflexive, and coherent domains. The volume can serve as a standard reference book for specialists working in the area and also is a suitable text for advanced-graduate algebra courses and seminars.
Book Synopsis Approximation Theorems in Commutative Algebra by : J. Alajbegovic
Download or read book Approximation Theorems in Commutative Algebra written by J. Alajbegovic and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 339 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Various types of approximation theorems are frequently used in general commutative algebra, and they have been found to be useful tools in valuation theory, the theory of Abelian lattice ordered groups, multiplicative ideal theory, etc. Part 1 of this volume is devoted to the investigation of approximation theorems from a classical point of view. The chapters of this part deal with fields and rings, partly ordered groups, and with multirings and d-groups. Part II investigates approximation theorems from a general, categorical point of view. This part is essentially self-contained and requires only a basic knowledge of category theory and first-order logic. For researchers and graduate students of commutative algebra, category theory, as well as applications of logic.
Book Synopsis Factoring Ideals in Integral Domains by : Marco Fontana
Download or read book Factoring Ideals in Integral Domains written by Marco Fontana and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume provides a wide-ranging survey of, and many new results on, various important types of ideal factorization actively investigated by several authors in recent years. Examples of domains studied include (1) those with weak factorization, in which each nonzero, nondivisorial ideal can be factored as the product of its divisorial closure and a product of maximal ideals and (2) those with pseudo-Dedekind factorization, in which each nonzero, noninvertible ideal can be factored as the product of an invertible ideal with a product of pairwise comaximal prime ideals. Prüfer domains play a central role in our study, but many non-Prüfer examples are considered as well.
Book Synopsis The Concise Handbook of Algebra by : Alexander V. Mikhalev
Download or read book The Concise Handbook of Algebra written by Alexander V. Mikhalev and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 629 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is by no means clear what comprises the "heart" or "core" of algebra, the part of algebra which every algebraist should know. Hence we feel that a book on "our heart" might be useful. We have tried to catch this heart in a collection of about 150 short sections, written by leading algebraists in these areas. These sections are organized in 9 chapters A, B, . . . , I. Of course, the selection is partly based on personal preferences, and we ask you for your understanding if some selections do not meet your taste (for unknown reasons, we only had problems in the chapter "Groups" to get enough articles in time). We hope that this book sets up a standard of what all algebraists are supposed to know in "their" chapters; interested people from other areas should be able to get a quick idea about the area. So the target group consists of anyone interested in algebra, from graduate students to established researchers, including those who want to obtain a quick overview or a better understanding of our selected topics. The prerequisites are something like the contents of standard textbooks on higher algebra. This book should also enable the reader to read the "big" Handbook (Hazewinkel 1999-) and other handbooks. In case of multiple authors, the authors are listed alphabetically; so their order has nothing to do with the amounts of their contributions.

Book Synopsis Manis Valuations and Prüfer Extensions I by : Manfred Knebusch
Download or read book Manis Valuations and Prüfer Extensions I written by Manfred Knebusch and published by Springer. This book was released on 2004-10-19 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present book is devoted to a study of relative Prüfer rings and Manis valuations, with an eye to application in real and p-adic geometry. If one wants to expand on the usual algebraic geometry over a non-algebraically closed base field, e.g. a real closed field or p-adically closed field, one typically meets lots of valuation domains. Usually they are not discrete and hence not noetherian. Thus, for a further develomemt of real algebraic and real analytic geometry in particular, and certainly also rigid analytic and p-adic geometry, new chapters of commutative algebra are needed, often of a non-noetherian nature. The present volume presents one such chapter.

Book Synopsis Non-Noetherian Commutative Ring Theory by : S.T. Chapman
Download or read book Non-Noetherian Commutative Ring Theory written by S.T. Chapman and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 477 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Commutative Ring Theory emerged as a distinct field of research in math ematics only at the beginning of the twentieth century. It is rooted in nine teenth century major works in Number Theory and Algebraic Geometry for which it provided a useful tool for proving results. From this humble origin, it flourished into a field of study in its own right of an astonishing richness and interest. Nowadays, one has to specialize in an area of this vast field in order to be able to master its wealth of results and come up with worthwhile contributions. One of the major areas of the field of Commutative Ring Theory is the study of non-Noetherian rings. The last ten years have seen a lively flurry of activity in this area, including: a large number of conferences and special sections at national and international meetings dedicated to presenting its results, an abundance of articles in scientific journals, and a substantial number of books capturing some of its topics. This rapid growth, and the occasion of the new Millennium, prompted us to embark on a project aimed at presenting an overview of the recent research in the area. With this in mind, we invited many of the most prominent researchers in Non-Noetherian Commutative Ring Theory to write expository articles representing the most recent topics of research in this area.
