Book Synopsis Evidence of Genuine Conversion by : Richard W. Barton
Download or read book Evidence of Genuine Conversion written by Richard W. Barton and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2012-05 with total page 109 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is an Old Testament verse that describes the majority of the world's population in regards to saving faith in the one true God: "Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision" (Joel 3:14). This is very sad, but equally sad is a serious condition, not outside, but inside the Church. A one word change in the above verse would make it read: "Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of [deception]." This one word change aptly describes the "serious condition" mentioned above, a condition which this book addresses. Being in the right religion, and acknowledging Christ as the one and only Savior of mankind, is, according to the Bible, the only way to heaven and eternal life. But within the Church not all who profess Christ, have Christ. There are "multitudes" of professing Christians who feel secure about their eternal destiny but, unknown to them; they are in the "valley of [deception]." What are the causes of this alarming, soul damning, condition, and how can we know if we ourselves have been deceived about the true state of our spiritual condition? No matter how secure you believe you are in your faith this is a book you need to read. The Word of God commands us to "Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith, prove yourselves" (2 Corinthians 13:5). This command was given by God to every believer, and if you have never obeyed the Lord in this command then now is the time to do so. None of God's commands are optional. This book will aid you in obeying the Lord in this regard, and if yours was a genuine conversion experience the end result of your obedience will be a sweet confirmation and strengthening of your faith. On the other hand, should you be among the "multitudes" within the Church who are unknowingly deceived concerning your salvation experience then this book could mean the difference between heaven and hell!
Book Synopsis The Role of Divine Grace in the Soteriology of Śaṃkarācārya by : Malkovsky
Download or read book The Role of Divine Grace in the Soteriology of Śaṃkarācārya written by Malkovsky and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2018-08-14 with total page 452 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume examines the role of divine grace in the non-dualist soteriology of Śaṃkara. The author argues that grace is an essential but generally overlooked feature in Śaṃkara’s enlightenment spirituality. Introductory chapters summarize recent developments in Śaṃkara research, Śaṃkara’s epistemology and ontology, ancient Vedāntic teachings on grace, and modern scholarly disagreement about grace in Śaṃkara’s Advaita system. The heart of the book consists of two lengthy exegetical chapters examining Śaṃkara’s key passages on grace from his dozen genuine works. The final chapter presents for the first time a systematic summary of Śaṃkara’s understanding of the operation and necessity of divine grace. This book provides a useful summary of Śaṃkara’s system as a whole besides offering a radical revision of the standard understanding of Śaṃkara’s soteriology. It also reveals that Śaṃkara was much more indebted in his thinking to his Vedantic predecessors than had hitherto been thought.

Book excerpt: Behind Bars is filled with stories both ancient and urgent of what happens when alcohol meets crime, from illicit stills in the Scottish Highlands to moonshine in the USA, rum smuggled by Caribbean pirates to the roaring times of Prohibition, current-day gangs selling millions of dollars’ worth of fake Bordeaux, and the often-unsolved cases of people walking into a liquor store, stealing whiskey bottles worth tens of thousands of dollars, and walking out, never to be seen again. Award-winning travel and drinks writer Mike Gerrard takes readers on a centuries-long journey highlighting the most bizarre – and expensive – alcohol-related crimes all while revealing the inside world of spirits, how they have been distilled, legislated, imbibed, and infused into our culture for hundreds of years. Featuring colorful tangents and detailed appendices, Behind Bars will whet the whistle of any curious reader. Spanning the stories of ancient wine swindlers in Pompeii to the modern radiocarbon-dating techniques used by today’s cutting-edge scientists to investigate suspect bottles of expensive alcohol, from million-dollar robberies of wine cellars buried deep underground to whiskey rings surrounding the highest reaches of the Presidency, Gerrard smartly and swiftly reveals that the link between alcohol and crime is a never-ending story.
Book Synopsis Entrepreneurship and the Market Process by : David A Harper
Download or read book Entrepreneurship and the Market Process written by David A Harper and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2002-01-08 with total page 409 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Enterpreneurship is central to the market process, and yet most theories of it fail to tackle the problem of how economic agents learn from their experience. This book redresses this by systematically applying the ideas of Karl Popper. It treats the entrepeneur as a theorist who develops conjectures which are then tested by exposure to the market, in an effort to eliminate errors. This is a critical aspect of the development of new ventures, as most entrepeneurial ideas turn out to be mistakes, at least in their original form.
