Son muchos los problemas en materia urbana y de vivienda pero son principalmente los económicos, sociales y ambientales, los que mas repercuten; el presente trabajo aborda el problema ambiental en el diseño de conjuntos habitacionales, y propone un enfoque "sostenible" para dar respuesta a las necesidades actuales, Esta tesis no pretende mostrar algo que no se haya realizado antes, pretende integrar los criterios que forman parte de la vivienda , los desarrollos y las ciudades, criterios que comúnmente se toman en forma aislada; No se puede hablar de vivienda bioclimática sin hablar del conjunto, o hablar de un desarrollo habitacional, sin tomar en cuenta la ciudad, Es por eso, que esta tesis trata de ver en forma global los problemas y criterios que conforman la vivienda, los desarrollos y las ciudades. A lo largo de este trabajo se encuentra una amplia descripción de las ciudades actuales, los problemas relacionados con el ambiente y la vivienda a nivel mundial y en México; se ven las soluciones a estos problemas con la óptica del desarrollo sostenible. Es el nivel de interés social, estrato en el que se puede influir y proponer una solución a los problemas que sufren las ciudades, los conjuntos y las viviendas. El tema del desarrollo sostenible es muy amplio y variado y su implementación en la construcción se aplica en todas las fases del desarrollo de un proyecto, que se incluye desde la conceptualización inicial, la elección del sitio, la protección. de los recursos naturales del terreno y sobre todo el diseño del conjunto,- del edificio hasta su construcción. Para cada una de estas fases existen estrategias específicas que apoyan a la sustentabilidad, este estudio sólo se enfoca en la etapa del diseño general del conjunto y del edificio, sin llegar a un nivel ejecutivo en el que se tendrían que realizar cálculos especiales para comprobar la eficacia del proyecto, es decir, el nivel al que se llega arroja mas que datos cuantitativos, cualitativos que cumplen con estas estrategias. La aplicación de estas tesis se desarrolla con el proyecto del concurso Mundial de Arquitectura, Desarrollo Urbano y Vivienda Sostenible, en Guanajuato, Gto organizado por la Federación Mexicana de Arquitectos, la UNESCO, la Unión Internacional de Arquitectos UIA y el gobierno de Guanajuato, Este trabajo se realiza como requisito parcial para obtener el grado académico de maestro en ciencias con especialidad en ingeniería y administración de la construcción, en la línea de edificación y vivienda. Se compara el proyecto con 4 proyectos de diferentes densidades y características explicados en los anexos A, B, C y D en base a un sistema de evaluación para la conservación de desarrollos, de acuerdo a las estrategias sostenibles que se citan en el capitulo 2. En el anexo E se presenta el proyecto al director general de una desarrolladora de vivienda de Monterrey, Nuevo León y da sus comentarios y observaciones para la factibilidad del proyecto en el mercado actual, Quiero agradecer apoyo de mis asesores el Doctor Salvador García y el Arquitecto Rodolfo Barragán los que cuentan con gran experiencia y conocimiento en las áreas de Arquitectura, Diseño Urbano y Vivienda y han contribuido a desarrollar esta tesis.

La vivienda social urbana es un punto clave para la implementación de criterios sostenibles, ya que convergen en ella las problemáticas mencionadas. Por ello, el gobierno ha apostado por iniciar el camino a la vivienda sostenible en esta tipología de vivienda. El presente proyecto de investigación realiza un esfuerzo por crear una propuesta de vivienda social urbana sustentable aplicable a climas cálido-húmedos, específicamente en la ciudad de Chetumal, Quintana Roo, México. Para ello, se investigó la situación de la vivienda en México, así como de la vivienda social urbana y la vivienda vernacular de la zona de estudio, analizando además, oportunidades de mejora de las viviendas, para incorporar las acciones pertinentes a la propuesta. En base a la investigación realizada, se tomó como referencia la vivienda vernácula de la región debido a su integración de características sostenibles, sin embargo se adaptó a los usos y costumbres del usuario contemporáneo, así como a los criterios de sostenibilidad recomendados por las instituciones Mexicanas. Se considera que la presente propuesta es viable de aplicación en la zona de estudio, y se recomienda ampliar las investigaciones en pro de perfeccionar los componentes del proyecto edificatorio, para lograr la implementación de propuestas similares en el parque habitacional. Deberemos tener en cuenta qué hay requisitos previos que se pueden llegar a cumplir y qué hay puntos que son de difícil logro y de ser así explicar el por qué no es posible su cumplimiento. (3) La fase tercera es el estudio del sistema constructivo tradicional, su evolución histórica, sus características, las diferentes metodologías dentro del mismo sistema constructivo, y referentes constructivos. (4) La cuarta fase y más importante es la de realizar el proyecto de la Vivienda Sostenible aplicando los conocimientos y los criterios adquiridos en las fases anteriores. Gender mainstreaming was first legislated for in the European Union with the Treaty of Amsterdam in 1999 and, although many interesting developments have occurred throughout the decade that followed, there is still much to do in terms of policy, knowledge production, dissemination and education. This work contributes to all three objectives, by advancing the state of knowledge, as well as providing educational and professional tools in the field of gender sensitive planning in Europe. The volume begins by explaining the concept of gender mainstreaming in relation to its origins in the 'second wave' of the women's movement and critiques of planning, architecture, transport planning and other built environment disciplines. It then provides a brief history of how gender mainstreaming was incorporated into European law, before focussing on the theoretical issues and questions that surround the concept of gender mainstreaming as they relate to urban space and the planning of cities and regions, including a discussion of the persistence of inequalities between the sexes in their access to urban space and services. In particular, the division between waged and unwaged work and its impact on the social construction of gender and of the physical built environment is considered. The differences between definitions of feminism and their implications for action in planning and design are also explored, paying regard to the tensions between a feminist vision of a transformation of gender relations and the requirements of gender mainstreaming to accommodate the different needs of women and men in their everyday lives in urban space. Throughout the book, key issues recur, such as the importance of time and space in the experience of urbanism, resistances to change on the part of institutions and social structures, and the importance of networks. Education and training also appear as common themes, as do citizen participation and the structures of governance. The chapters are organised into four sections: concepts, structures, empowerment and spatial quality. Contributors demonstrate a variety of approaches to the intersections of gender, women, cities, and planning, dealing with substantive and procedural issues in planning, at both local and regional scales. They stress the links between environmental sustainability and gender-sensitive urban development. The book concludes by putting forward an outlook for future action.
