Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The electrical, optical and structural properties of thin films of zinc oxide in the thickness range 10-400 nm on glass and fuzed quartz substrates have been investigated. The films were prepared using a new chemical spray technique which permitted deposition on either insulating or conducting substrates with a high degree of control over both the dimensions of the coatings and their electrical properties. The effects of variations in film thickness and heat treatment in oxygen have been examined and an assessment has been made of the dimensions of the depletion layer and of the diffusion coefficient of interstitial zinc in zinc oxide. Films with thicknesses greater than 40 nm are stable for long periods and show a crystalline structure with a preferred orientation of the C-axis normal to the substrate. An amorphous phase together with crystallites is apparent in films less than 40 nm thick. However, these films are unstable and show crystallite growth after storage at room temperature. In general, the optical properties of the films correspond with those of films prepared by other methods. (Author).

Download or read book Advanced Spray Deposited Zinc Oxide Thin Films written by Prashant S. Shewale and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2015-03-17 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the years, the spray pyrolysis method has been used to deposit thin films of metal oxides and chalcogenide semiconductors. It is well known that the substrate temperature is the central parameter in spray pyrolysis that determines the physical and chemical properties of the deposits. However, somewhat high growth temperatures applied during the spray pyrolysis derived synthesis of metal oxide thin films may limit the surface-to-volume ratio requisite for their reasonable gas sensing characteristics. Thus, there is a strong drive to modify the spray pyrolysis technique in terms of growth temperature by retaining its inherent advantages. The present book is focussed on the effort to modify the conventional spray pyrolysis technique into novel route of advanced spray pyrolysis to synthesize the undoped and doped ZnO nanocrystalline thin films at relatively low substrate temperature and investigation of the effects of various preparative parameters and dopant incorporations, on the film properties such as crystallinity, surface morphology, the electrical and hydrogen sulphide (H2S) gas sensing properties.

Book Synopsis Chemical Solution Deposition of Functional Oxide Thin Films by : Theodor Schneller
Download or read book Chemical Solution Deposition of Functional Oxide Thin Films written by Theodor Schneller and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2014-01-24 with total page 801 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first text to cover all aspects of solution processed functional oxide thin-films. Chemical Solution Deposition (CSD) comprises all solution based thin- film deposition techniques, which involve chemical reactions of precursors during the formation of the oxide films, i. e. sol-gel type routes, metallo-organic decomposition routes, hybrid routes, etc. While the development of sol-gel type processes for optical coatings on glass by silicon dioxide and titanium dioxide dates from the mid-20th century, the first CSD derived electronic oxide thin films, such as lead zirconate titanate, were prepared in the 1980’s. Since then CSD has emerged as a highly flexible and cost-effective technique for the fabrication of a very wide variety of functional oxide thin films. Application areas include, for example, integrated dielectric capacitors, ferroelectric random access memories, pyroelectric infrared detectors, piezoelectric micro-electromechanical systems, antireflective coatings, optical filters, conducting-, transparent conducting-, and superconducting layers, luminescent coatings, gas sensors, thin film solid-oxide fuel cells, and photoelectrocatalytic solar cells. In the appendix detailed “cooking recipes” for selected material systems are offered.

Download or read book Physics And Technology Of Thin Films, Iwtf 2003 - Proceedings Of The International Workshop written by M Wuttig and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2004-06-08 with total page 549 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thin films science and technology plays an important role in the high-tech industries. Thin film technology has been developed primarily for the need of the integrated circuit industry. The demand for development of smaller and smaller devices with higher speed especially in new generation of integrated circuits requires advanced materials and new processing techniques suitable for future giga scale integration (GSI) technology. In this regard, physics and technology of thin films can play an important role to acheive this goal. The production of thin films for device purposes has been developed over the past 40 years. Thin films as a two dimensional system are of great importance to many real-world problems. Their material costs are very small as compared to the corresponding bulk material and they perform the same function when it comes to surface processes. Thus, knowledge and determination of the nature, functions and new properties of thin films can be used for the development of new technologies for future applications.Thin film technology is based on three foundations: fabrication, characterization and applications. Some of the important applications of thin films are microelectronics, communication, optical electronics, catalysis, coating of all kinds, and energy generation and conservation strategies. This book emphasizes the importance of thin films and their properties for the new technologies. It presents basic principles, processes techniques and applications of thin films. As thin films physics and technology is a multidisciplinary field, the book will be useful to a wide varity of readers (especially young researcher) in physics, electronic engineering, material science and metallurgy.

Book Synopsis Multifunctional Oxide-Based Materials: From Synthesis to Application by : Teofil Jesionowski
Download or read book Multifunctional Oxide-Based Materials: From Synthesis to Application written by Teofil Jesionowski and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2019-09-03 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book deals with novel aspects and perspectives in metal oxide and hybrid material fabrication. The contributions are mainly focused on the search for a new group of advanced materials with designed physicochemical properties, especially an expanded porous structure and defined surface activity. The proposed technological procedures result in an enhanced activity of the synthesized hybrid materials, which is of great importance when considering their potential fields of application. The use of such materials in different technological disciplines, including aspects associated with environmental protection, allows for the verification of the proposed synthesis method. Thus, it can be stated that those aspects are of interdisciplinary character and may be located at the interface of three scientific disciplines—chemistry, materials science, and engineering—as well as environmental protection. Furthermore, the presented scientific scope is in some way an answer to the continuous demand for such types of materials and opens new perspectives for their practical use
