Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book was originally published as a Russian edition in mid-1968. It represented the first single-volume discussion of chemical pest control and of the detailed chemistry.of all modern pesticide chemicals since D. E. H. Frear's classical book on this same subject, first published in 1942 (van No strand) with the latest (third) edition in 1955. Since 1955 many new pesti cide chemicals have achieved commercial status, and many of the older ones have been supplanted. There is no up-to-date equivalent of this present volume in the world literature, with the exception of the encyclopedic and largely biologically oriented two-volume work "Chemie der Pflanzenschutz und Schadlingsbekampfungsmittel" (R. Wegler, ed.) published by Springer Verlag in 1970. Professor Melnikov has updated the 1968 Russian edition, with emphasis on the primary Russian sources yet with excellent world wide coverage of the latest chemicals to approach field stature in modern chemical pest control, for the present translation."

Book excerpt: This book provides an overview of the major chemical aspects of pesticides giving detailed descriptions of the various groups of pesticides in current use - insecticides, acaricides, nematocides, rodenticides, fungicides and herbicides. The organic syntheses are discussed in detail, as are the biochemical aspects of the effectiveness and mechanisms of action of these chemical agents. The ecological aspects of the use of pesticides - nowadays an important consideration - are also discussed. The main trends of development in the field are also dealt with, e.g. the development of insecticides which present less of a threat to human beings and animals than the ones presently used, whose point of attack is the nervous system. Research is now concentrated on developing chemical compounds which affect the biochemistry or the special behavioural features of insects, instead of acting upon their nervous system. Newly discovered chemicals with selective action which are still in the developmental and experimentational stages are also described. Because of its comprehensive character, the book will be a useful source of information to those engaged in practical work in this field, as well as to researchers in the agricultural sciences.

This book was released on 2022-02-02 with total page 536 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Agrochemicals are chemical agents that are applied to fields to boost the nutrient content of the soil or crops. Herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides are among them, as are synthetic fertilizers, hormones, and soil conditioners. They boost agricultural growth by eradicating pests that wreak havoc. They are used in horticulture, dairy farming, poultry farming, crop shifting, commercial planting, and other farming industries. A pesticide is any substance that is used to kill, repel, or control pests in plants or animals. Insecticides are chemicals that are used to keep insects under control by killing them or stopping them from engaging in undesired or damaging behaviour. Their structure and mode of action are used to classify them. Fungicides are pesticides that kill or prevent fungus and their spores from growing. They can be used to manage plant-damaging fungi such as rusts, mildews, and blights. They could also be used to keep moulds and mildew at bay in other places. Herbicides are chemicals that are used to control or manage unwanted vegetation. Herbicides are most commonly used in row-crop farming, where they are treated before or during planting to increase crop productivity while reducing other vegetation. The global agrochemicals market estimated size is CAGR of 3.4%. Increasing demand for food supply due to the rapid growth in the human population has triggered agricultural intensification. Agrochemicals are widely employed in agriculture to meet rising food demands, bridging the gap between food supply and consumption. Concurrently imbalanced use of agrochemicals, on the other hand, degrades the environment and poses serious threats to aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. Chemical agents used in agricultural lands to increase nutrient shortage in the field or crop are known as agrochemicals. They also help to boost crop development by destroying hazardous insects. Agrochemicals increase the quantity and quality of agricultural goods. These are utilized in horticulture, dairy farming, cattle, grain farming, shifting cultivation, commercial plantation, and many other agricultural fields. The book covers a wide range of topics connected to Pesticides, Insecticides, Fungicides and Herbicides, as well as their manufacturing processes. It also includes contact information for machinery suppliers, as well as images of equipments. A complete guide on Agrochemical Products manufacture and entrepreneurship. This book serves as a one-stop shop for everything you need to know about the Pesticides, Insecticides, Fungicides and Herbicides manufacturing industry, which is ripe with opportunity for manufacturers, merchants, and entrepreneurs. This is the only book that covers Agrochemical in depth. From concept through equipment procurement, it is a veritable feast of how-to information.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pesticides have played a significant role in increasing food production, and in view of growing worldwide food demand we can expect the use of these chemicals to increase. However, some of them have found their way into the biosphere and have been classi fied as persistent toxic chemicals. This has resulted in serious concern about environmental contamination. Since we are going to continue using chemicals, we should learn more about such aspects as their transport in the environment, the relationship of their physical-chemical properties to transport, their persistence in the biosphere, their partitioning in the biota, and toxicological and epidemiological forecasting based on physical-chemical properties. Environmental chemodynamics is the name given to a subject which deals with some of the above topics, utilizing the principles of such disciplines as chemistry, physics, systems analysis, modelling, engineering, and medical and biological sciences. To ensure the safety of the environment, we must know more about the chemodynamical behavior of pesticides and related chemi cals. The purpose of the symposium "Environmental Dynamics of Pes ticides" was to explore the concept of chemodynamics as applied to pesticides and thus may help in developing the emerging field of environmental chemodynamics. The symposium was held during the l37th National American Chemical Society Meeting at Los Angeles, California, during April, 1974. The three sessions in the sym posium were chai'red by Drs. V.H. Freed, D.G. Crosby, and R. Haque.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Concern about health effects from exposure to pesticides in foods is growing as scientists learn more about the toxic properties of pesticides. The Delaney Clause, a provision of the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, prohibits tolerances for any pesticide that causes cancer in test animals or in humans if the pesticide concentrates in processed food or feeds. This volume examines the impacts of the Delaney Clause on agricultural innovation and on the public's dietary exposure to potentially carcinogenic pesticide residues. Four regulatory scenarios are described to illustrate the effects of varying approaches to managing oncogenic pesticide residues in food.
