Download or read book Propellant Losses Because of Particulate Emission in a Pulsed Plasma Thruster written by and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Propellant inefficiency material in particulate form is characterized in a laboratory pulsed plasma thruster (PPT) operating at 1 Hz with a 204 discharge energy (20 W). Exhaust deposits are collected and analyzed using a combination of a scanning electron microscope with energy dispersive x-ray analysis and microscopic imaging. Teflon(trademark) particulates are observed with characteristic dianietens ranging from over 100 micrometers down to less than 1 micrometer.

Download or read book Proceedings of the 2022 International Conference on Smart Manufacturing and Material Processing (SMMP2022) written by A. Nayyar and published by IOS Press. This book was released on 2022-11-29 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Smart manufacturing is a broad category of manufacturing that employs computer-integration, high levels of adaptability and rapid design changes, together with digital information technology and a technically-trained workforce. This book presents the proceedings of SMMP2022, the 2022 International Conference on Smart Manufacturing and Material Processing, held on 12 and 13 August 2022 as a virtual event due to continuing restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic, and hosted from Shanghai, China. The conference provides a platform for researchers and scientists from smart manufacturing and material sciences to come together with researchers from various other application areas to discuss problems and solutions, identify new issues, and shape future directions for research. The conference received 60 submissions. These were submitted to a rigorous peer review process by a committee of experts from various disciplines, after which, 23 were accepted for presentation at the conference and publication here. The topics covered include materials processing and product manufacture, sensors and smart material systems, functional materials, industrial automation and process control, and discussion of the state-of-the-art and future direction of smart manufacturing and material sciences. Providing an overview of current developments in smart manufacturing and material processing, the book will be of interest to all those working in the field.
Book Synopsis An Experimental Study of Solid Propellant Deflagration Using High Speed Motion Pictures and Postfire Residue Analysis by : Vincent Daniel DiLoreto
Download or read book An Experimental Study of Solid Propellant Deflagration Using High Speed Motion Pictures and Postfire Residue Analysis written by Vincent Daniel DiLoreto and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 121 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Six aluminized propellants were investigated through strand burning in a windowed combustion bomb at 500 psi and 1000 psi. Postfire particle residues were analyzed with a scanning electron microscope and found to have bi-modal size distributions. The mean diameter of the fine particle distribution was approximately 10 microns in all cases while the mean diameter of the coarse particles was approximately the same size as the initial aluminum cast in the propellant. Measurements taken from the high speed motion pictures included resolution, propellant burning rate, the diameter of the burning particles ejected from the surface, and vertical velocity of burning particles. The diameters of burning particles were approximately 7 to 12 times the diameter of the initial aluminum cast in the propellant. Aluminum size had only small effects on burning rate. The smallest particle that could be accurately resolved with the motion pictures was approximately 60 microns. (Author).
Book Synopsis Combustion Mechanism of Composite Propellant During Depressurization by : Horst Selzer
Download or read book Combustion Mechanism of Composite Propellant During Depressurization written by Horst Selzer and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 9 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The investigations of the extinguishing by depressurization resulted in a period of low gas temperature after the stop of the steady state flame and before the redevelopment of a second flame. By comparison of the depressurization rate and the time intervals for a 50% pressure decay, the continued gasification of the propellant could be measured. Surface structure analysis by Scanning Electron Microscope enabled the determination of the oxidizer/binder area ration on the extinguished surface, furthermore the burning of local spots to about 0.1 mm propellant thickness during the phase of extinguishing. The measurements included 16 different propellant mixtures at pressure levels of 25 bar, 45 bar, and 95 bar.
Book Synopsis An Experimental Investigation of Strand Burning Metallized Solid Propellants by :
Download or read book An Experimental Investigation of Strand Burning Metallized Solid Propellants written by and published by . This book was released on 1989 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Characteristics of the products of combustion of metallized solid propellant strands at pressures between 250 and 750 psi were investigated using holography and light scattering measurements. In addition, scanning electron microscope and light scattering measurements were used to examine quenched residue. A reduced smoke ZrC propellant and three propellants of varying aluminum loading (2%, 4.8%, and 16%) were examined. The objective of the experiments was to provide to determine if any correlation of results from this method of analysis could be made with results from other more complex solid propellant motor measurements, such as plume probe and signature measurements. The results of these efforts reflected the inability of any single technique of analysis to completely describe particle size distributions. These results also suggest the need for modification of current experimental apparatus and procedures. (JES).
