Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If we want to know how God will treat the Christian Church, we must look at how God treated the ancient people of Israel. That's the premise of Harry Huxhold's seventeen messages based on First Lesson texts from the Revised Common Lectionary, which demonstrate that the word and sacrament of Christian worship are as fresh as the promises of hope, providence, salvation, grace, and steadfast love that God first shared with humanity millennia ago. Titles include: - Days of Promise (Jeremiah 33:14-16) - The Child of Promise (Isaiah 9:2-7) - The Promise of Baptism (Isaiah 43:1-7) - The Fruit of Forgiveness (Genesis 45:3-11, 15) - Keeping the Glow On (Exodus 34:29-35) ... and more! Harry N. Huxhold holds an M.Div. degree from Concordia Seminary (St. Louis), an M.Th. degree from Luther Seminary (St. Paul, Minnesota), and a D.Min. degree (summa cum laude) from Christian Theological Seminary (Indianapolis). The author of fifteen books of devotional and sermonic materials and over fifty articles in theological journals and religious periodicals, Huxhold currently serves on the pastoral staff at King of Glory Lutheran Church in Carmel, Indiana.

Could it be that God is calling you to something bigger than yourself? Kathy is an ordinary, everyday, gal who was focused on raising her three sons, having fun with friends and working as an Register Nurse. Right up until life turned upside down and she began to really listen to God’s call, the over whelming sense of being called into something bigger than herself. Something so big, not only did it excite her but scared her. She knew it could never be done without God’s supernatural orchestrating. This is a story of how God uses ordinary messed up individuals to accomplish His supernatural extraordinary plans! A journey that takes her from conservative west Michigan to the Rift Valley of Kenya, Africa.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “I died at Auschwitz,” French writer Charlotte Delbo asserts, “and nobody knows it.” Möbian Nights: Reading Literature and Darkness develops a new understanding of literary reading: that in the wake of disasters like the Holocaust, death remains a premise of our experience rather than a future. Challenging customary “aesthetic” assumptions that we write in order not to die, Sandor Goodhart suggests (with Kafka) we write to die. Drawing upon analyses developed by Girard, Foucault, Blanchot, and Levinas (along with examples from Homer to Beckett), Möbian Nights proposes that all literature works “autobiographically”, which is to say, in the wake of disaster; with the credo “I died; therefore, I am”; and for which the language of topology (for example, the “Möbius strip”) offers a vocabulary for naming the “deep structure” of such literary, critical, and scriptural sacrificial and anti-sacrificial dynamics.
