Book excerpt: Army veteran and restaurant owner John Callan was at the wrong place at absolutely the worst time. And he paid for it with the lives of his wife and daughter. His attempt at revenge on Morgan Ropp, the country’s most lethal criminal, lands him in a special, top secret section of the Federal Witness Security Program: the Janus Project. Life under Janus is supposed to be the safest available for protected witnesses – and it is for Callan until Morgan escapes from prison and finds out where – and when – Callan is hiding. The Janus Project reveals the struggle of survival when the need for revenge pushes us to the brink of disaster. This character-driven novel highlights the dichotomy of a man torn between the fictional life that has been implanted in his new reality and the depth of his instincts that drive him within his innermost soul. Which reality will win? It’s a matter of time.

Chemically altered. Psychologically conditioned. Perfect. Driven. Deadly. Emily's cover identity is so convincing that even Emily herself doesn't realize that she's been turned into a human weapon. Book excerpt: A massive conspiracy has been brewing in the USA since the end of WWII when two young American servicemen came home from the ruins of Berlin with stolen Nazi treasure and embarked on the creation of the "New America." Over fifty years they became the two richest men in the country and formed their secret committee consisting of some of the most powerful men in the nation, sufficiently well funded and connected to military, industrial, religious and political powers to establish control over the USA. A coup is planned after they have destabilised America by a series of murderous riots that kill tens of thousands. Only a small group of highly trained operatives learns about the conspiracy and is frantically working to destroy it as the day of the coup approaches. But not everything is as it seems, and neither the agents nor even the members of the Council for the New America know the real objectives of the Council's founders. The dreams of those two old men are far more complex, far more ambitious and far more lethal than any of them could possibly have envisaged.

Book Synopsis Raymond Wright Is Missing: from The Janus Project Files by : Brad Anderson
Download or read book Raymond Wright Is Missing: from The Janus Project Files written by Brad Anderson and published by Outskirts Press. This book was released on 2021-02-27 with total page 358 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Home. After two months of being in the hospital as a result of greed and the accidental completion of an electrical circuit, Raymond Wright is more than ready to be back in his lean-to with all of his tools and cooking gear. Ray can see his woods through the great, big, round doorway everyone calls "The Portal." Deputy US Marshal Danford is going with him to make sure he gets home safely. However, when Ray steps through The Portal, he finds himself alone in a wood unfamiliar-with no doorway to return through. At first, Ray isn't all that worried, but the two "Indian" tribes and the giant wall of white far to the north tell him he's farther from home than he has ever been. The mastodons that chase him let him know he is more than just miles away. He finds clues that the hospital people are looking for him. If he can just survive the mastodons, saber-toothed tigers, direwolves, and an unforgivable winter, they might find him in time to take him home alive. Only a few people at Janus know of Ray's disappearance, but they know only that he's gone-not where he went . . . or "when" he ended up. The search for Ray and the cause of his disappearance begins in earnest. As time goes by with no success, the fate of The Janus Project falls to Dr. Randy Vitek, the scientist who made time travel and The Janus Project possible. Clear your calendar and turn off your phone. This suspenseful, character-driven novel will keep you on the edge of your seat right up to the very end.

Download or read book Manprint written by H.R. Booher and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 617 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: PERSPECTIVE This book is important to everyone concerned with the design and development of people-oriented systems. The Manpower and Personnel Integration (MANPRINT) program is a major military system procurement initiative adopted by the Army to focus on the needs and capabilities of the soldier. This program is unique in that it integrates six areas of user concerns which include human factors engineering, manpower, personnel, training, health hazards, and system safety throughout the development cycle of Army materiel. Even though MAN PRINT was developed for Army systems, the philosophy and techniques used in this program extend well beyond military systems used by soldiers. It can be applied to all products and systems used by people such as automobiles, airplanes, boats, control rooms, automated manufacturing, telecommunications, computers, and medical equipment. Interestingly, the impetus for MAN PRINT came from the senior managers who buy these systems. During the early and mid-1980s, two Army generals, M. R. Thurman and R. M. Elton, who served successively as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel, were instrumental in fostering MANPRINT development. By the end of the 1980s, this program was integrated throughout the standard procurement system of the Army. The formal statement of acquisition policy is contained in Army Regulation 602-2.
