They essentially serve to move and to make others, or to hurt. Our talked words are either ruinous or avowing, that's the reason we generally need to pick our words out more deliberately. We may not really know, but rather our words are our most intense instrument as humane. To talk or to be absolute a word is the thing that makes us unmistakable from some other living things in this world.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Failure Did Me A Favor, PJ Edmund critically and analytically traces and examines the turbulent life of Joseph and witnesses the steps, the stages and phases of his life. It underscores how life will not always present success as we view it, but life itself is a gift to be used for success. It also examines the unconventional and even mysterious ways that God allows dreamers to gain and grow in wisdom, knowledge and understanding through both great opportunities and great disappointments. What is success, what does it look like when we get there? Simply stated it is the lessons learned risking failure. No other account brings these lessons into focus more than the life journey of the eleventh son of Jacob, the dreamer Joseph.

This book was released on 2008-09-30 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I remember when Doctor Willie Traylor and his wife, Peggy, came to Greater New Start Church in 2005. They arrived from a church across town, Houston, called Christian Tabernacle, pastored by Dr. Richard Heard. Dr. Traylor relayed to me that Jesus sent them to us. They said that the LORD said He was expanding the borders of their tent. I can defi nitely attest to the fact that the LORD has expanded their tent?s borders as well as Greater New Start?s borders. One thing that JESUS put on Dr. Traylor?s heart to do was edit our faith confession. Since we have joined in agreement in editing our confession, which we confess out loud each service, we all have and are still witnessing the manifestation of what we have been confessing in JESUS?S Name. This week we are moving into close to a half-million-dollar church property. Therefore, I feel this is a good place to share our faith confession with the rest of the world: Father, we thank you that we are givers of ourselves, time, and money. Because we are givers, YOU give and cause men to give to us?good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over. We are sowing our seed into good ground; therefore we believe YOU are helping us prosper SPIRITUALLY, PHYSICALLY, and FINANCIALLY. We thank you, FATHER, that you increase our anointing more and more (me, my family, and my church). Abundance in every area is your will for us, and we choose not to settle for less. WE DECLARE that we are bearing a hundredfold fruit, and others are seeing the manifestation of our faith. We are wealthy in every KINGDOM AREA, in JESUS? Name, amen. Just as the LORD has used Dr. Traylor and his wife at Greater New Start, I am sure He is also using him in this great anointed writing. I know that each one who receives this Great Man of God will truly be blessed. Bishop Joseph R. Handy Founder, Greater New Start Church Houston, Texas

Book excerpt: This Summer 2009 (VII, 3) issue of Human Architecture: Journal of the Sociology of Self-Knowledge, is devoted to the theme “Sociological Re-Imaginations in & of Universities.” As part of the journal’s continuing series critically engaging with C. Wright Mills’ “sociological imagination,” i.e., the proposition that the best way to theorize and practice sociology is via a continual conversation between the study of one’s personal troubles and that of broader public issues, the present issue turns its attention to fostering sociological re-imaginations in and of universities. Several faculty, recent graduates or alumni, and current undergraduate students advance insightful, critical perspectives about their own learning and teaching experiences and personal “troubles,” and broader university, disciplinary, and administrative “public issues” that in their view merit immediate attention in favor of fundamental rectifications of outdated procedures and educational habita that continue to persist at the cost of more creative, and in fact more scientific and rational, approaches to production and dissemination of knowledge. Contributors include: Satoshi Ikeda, Sandra J. Song, L. Lynda Harling Stalker, Jason Pridmore, Festus Ikeotuonye, Samuel Zalanga, Donald A. Nielsen, Anne Bubriski, Penelope Roode, Belle Summer, E. M. Walsh, Ann Marie Moler, Minxing Zheng, Andrew Messing, Jillian Pelletier, Christine Quinn, Trevor Doherty, Lisa Kemmerer, and Mohammad H. Tamdgidi (also as journal editor-in-chief). Human Architecture: Journal of the Sociology of Self-Knowledge is a publication of OKCIR: The Omar Khayyam Center for Integrative Research in Utopia, Mysticism, and Science (Utopystics). Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Proclaiming the Parables, noted preacher and scholar Thomas G. Long moves away from past treatment of the parables primarily as literary devices and moves toward an emphasis on their theological impact as pointers to the kingdom of God. While the parables are indeed significant poetic literary creations that have enchanted readers over the centuries, their main power, he claims, lies in their disclosure of the kingdom of God, which is not merely an idea, nor even just a complex symbol with generative and centrifugal force, but an event: the inbreaking of the life of God into human history and experience. Long sees parables not merely as creative figures of speech but as GPS devices taking hearers to those places where the event of God is happening all around us. This book provides two chapters for each synoptic Gospel. The first focuses on the Gospel as a whole and the parables’ place in it, and the second provides preachers and teachers with detailed exegetical and homiletical commentary for each major parable in that Gospel. Two introductory chapters additionally situate this book in the history and theology of the parables’ interpretation and address questions that preachers have about preaching the parables. Preachers who consult this volume will be informed about each major parable, guided through the controversies regarding interpretation, and stimulated to preach on the parable in fresh, faithful, and creative ways.
