Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume represents the Proceedings of the Oji International Seminar on the Application of High Magnetic Fields in the Physics of Semiconductors and Magnetic Materials, which was held at the Hakone Kanko Hotel, Hakone, Japan, from 10 to 13 September 1980. The Seminar was organized as a related meeting to the 15th International Conference on the Physics of Semiconductors which was held in Kyoto between 1 and 5 September 1980. From 12 countries, 77 de legates participated in the Seminar. This Seminar was originally planned to be a formal series of International Conferences on the Application of High Magnetic Fields in the Physics of Semiconductors, which was first started by Professor G. Landwehr in 1972 in WUrzburg as a satellite conference to the 11th Semiconductor Conference in Warsaw. The Conference in WUrzburg was con ducted in an informal atmosphere which was followed by three conferences, in WUrzburg in 1974 and 1976, and in Oxford in 1978. At the current Seminar the physics of magnetic materials was added to the scope of the Seminar, because high-field magnetism is also an important research area in the physics of high magnetic fields and is also one of the most active fields in physics in Japan. In the last decade, considerable effort has been devoted to develop the techniques for generating the high magnetic fields in many high-field labora tories in the world.
Book Synopsis Magnetic Materials by : Amitabha Ghoshray
Download or read book Magnetic Materials written by Amitabha Ghoshray and published by American Institute of Physics. This book was released on 2008-04-22 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All papers have been peer-reviewed. For researchers in Condensed Matter Physics, this conference provided a forum for presentation and discussion of the new concepts and developments in magnetic materials encompassing the areas like: (1) molecular magnet, (2) magnetic thin film and multilayer, (3) nanoparticle, (4) alloy and intermetallic, (5) transition metal oxides (6) frustated, spin glass and amorphous material and (7) magnetic semiconducors. New results obtained using experimental techniques like: (a) magnetization and magneto-transport and magneto-calorie, (b) scattering techniques (light and neutron), and (c) resonance techniques (EPR, NMR and Mossbauer) as well as many important theoretical developments were discussed.

Book Synopsis Introduction to Frustrated Magnetism by : Claudine Lacroix
Download or read book Introduction to Frustrated Magnetism written by Claudine Lacroix and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-01-12 with total page 682 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The field of highly frustrated magnetism has developed considerably and expanded over the last 15 years. Issuing from canonical geometric frustration of interactions, it now extends over other aspects with many degrees of freedom such as magneto-elastic couplings, orbital degrees of freedom, dilution effects, and electron doping. Its is thus shown here that the concept of frustration impacts on many other fields in physics than magnetism. This book represents a state-of-the-art review aimed at a broad audience with tutorial chapters and more topical ones, encompassing solid-state chemistry, experimental and theoretical physics.
