Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This conference marked the ?rst time that the Asia-Paci?c Computer Systems Architecture Conference was held outside Australasia (i. e. Australia and New Zealand), and was, we hope, the start of what will be a regular event. The conference started in 1992 as a workshop for computer architects in Australia and subsequently developed into a full-?edged conference covering Austra- sia. Two additional major changes led to the present conference. The ?rst was a change from “computer architecture” to “computer systems architecture”, a change that recognized the importance and close relationship to computer arc- tecture of certain levels of software (e. g. operating systems and compilers) and of other areas (e. g. computer networks). The second change, which re?ected the increasing number of papers being submitted from Asia, was the replacement of “Australasia” with “Asia-Paci?c”. This year’s event was therefore particularly signi?cant, in that it marked the beginning of a truly “Asia-Paci?c” conference. It is intended that in the future the conference venue will alternate between Asia and Australia/New Zealand and, although still small, we hope that in time the conference will develop into a major one that represents Asia to the same - tent as existing major computer-architecture conferences in North America and Europe represent those regions.

Book excerpt: This book contains papers on selected aspects of dependability analysis in computer systems and networks, which were chosen for discussion during the 16th DepCoS-RELCOMEX conference held in Wrocław, Poland, from June 28 to July 2, 2021. Their collection will be a valuable source material for scientists, researchers, practitioners and students who are dealing with design, analysis and engineering of computer systems and networks and must ensure their dependable operation. Being probably the most complex technical systems ever engineered by man (and also—the most dynamically evolving ones), organization of contemporary computer systems cannot be interpreted only as structures built on the basis of (unreliable) technical resources. Their evaluation must take into account a specific blend of interacting people (their needs and behaviours), networks (together with mobile properties, cloud organization, Internet of Everything, etc.) and a large number of users dispersed geographically and constantly producing an unconceivable number of applications. Ever-growing number of research methods being continuously developed for dependability analyses apply the newest techniques of artificial and computational intelligence. Selection of papers in these proceedings illustrates diversity of multi-disciplinary topics which are considered in present-day dependability explorations.

Book excerpt: The Second International Conference on Innovations in Computing Research (ICR’23) brings together a diverse group of researchers from all over the world with the intent of fostering collaboration and dissemination of the innovations in computing technologies. The conference is aptly segmented into six tracks: Data Science, Computer and Network Security, Health Informatics and Medical Imaging, Computer Science and Computer Engineering Education, Internet of Things, and Smart Cities/Smart Energy. These tracks aim to promote a birds-of-the-same-feather congregation and maximize participation. The Data Science track covers a wide range of topics including complexity score for missing data, deep learning and fake news, cyberbullying and hate speech, surface area estimation, analysis of gambling data, car accidents predication model, augmenting character designers’ creativity, deep learning for road safety, effect of sleep disturbances on the quality of sleep, deep learning-based path-planning, vehicle data collection and analysis, predicting future stocks prices, and trading robot for foreign exchange. Computer and Network Security track is dedicated to various areas of cybersecurity. Among these are decentralized solution for secure management of IoT access rights, multi-factor authentication as a service (MFAaaS) for federated cloud environments, user attitude toward personal data privacy and data privacy economy, host IP obfuscation and performance analysis, and vehicle OBD-II port countermeasures. The Computer Science and Engineering Education track enfolds various educational areas, such as data management in industry–academia joint research: a perspective of conflicts and coordination in Japan, security culture and security education, training and awareness (SETA), influencing information security management, engaging undergraduate students in developing graphical user interfaces for NSF funded research project, and emotional intelligence of computer science teachers in higher education. On the Internet of Things (IoT) track, the focus is on industrial air quality sensor visual analytics, social spider optimization meta-heuristic for node localization optimization in wireless sensor networks, and privacy aware IoT-based fall detection with infrared sensors and deep learning. The Smart Cities and Smart Energy track spans various areas, which include, among others, research topics on heterogeneous transfer learning in structural health monitoring for high-rise structures and energy routing in energy Internet using the firefly algorithm.

Book excerpt: Blockchain is a recent technology that is promising to revolutionize the way supply chains are designed and operated. Regarding its role in securing exchanges of data, this technology has remarkably changed the manner of governing the structure of the supply chain relationships and the way that transactions are made. Blockchain technology is likely to influence future supply chain practices by performing electronic integration, supporting partners’ connections, and offering real-time information flows. Thus, blockchain technologies are gaining interest among both academicians and professionals. This interest concerns the conceptual level and also the practical and concrete levels of the implementation of blockchain technology in supply chains. The Handbook of Research on Blockchain Technology and the Digitalization of the Supply Chain presents blockchain’s basic concepts and pertinent methods that contributed to meeting key supply chain management objectives. It determines the current trends and challenges in the use of blockchain to enhance supply chain management. Covering topics such as communication systems, documentation systems, and supply chain evolution, this major reference work is an excellent resource for business leaders and managers, logistics professionals, IT managers, students and educators of higher education, librarians, researchers, and academicians.
