C'est le cas des chenilles, un met apprecier par plusieurs peuples aussi bien en Afrique que dans divers parties du monde. Notre etude s'est basee sur 5 especes des chenilles consommees et trouvees sur le marche de Kinshasa. Les analyses chimiques et biochimiques realisees ont montre une composition assez elevees en glucides et en proteines Comparant la part des chenilles dans un repas en ce qui concerne son apport proteique avec les besoins quotidiens recommandes, nous pouvons affirmer que les chenilles peuvent constituer un aliment important; elles peuvent couvrir la presque totalite de tous les besoins en acides amines essentiels d'un adulte. Leurs consommations en tant qu'aliment complementaire, riche en proteines et elements energetiques, peut contribuer d'une facon significative a la lutte contre l'insecurite alimentaire et la pauvrete.

La Cour a examiné l'efficacité de l'aide au développement octroyée par l'Union européenne (UE) en matière de sécurité alimentaire en Afrique subsaharienne, en évaluant si cette aide prend en considération les besoins et les priorités des pays et si les interventions de l'UE atteignent leurs objectifs. L'audit a porté sur le soutien direct au développement apporté par l'UE pour chacun des trois volets de la sécurité alimentaire, à savoir la disponibilité des aliments, l'accès à l'alimentation et l'utilisation des denrées alimentaires ou nutrition. La Cour est parvenue à la conclusion que l'aide au développement de l'UE en matière de sécurité alimentaire en Afrique subsaharienne est en grande partie efficace, qu'elle est particulièrement adaptée aux besoins et aux priorités des pays et qu'elle contribue de manière significative à assurer la sécurité alimentaire. Cependant, d'importantes améliorations peuvent encore être apportées dans plusieurs domaines, par exemple en évaluant mieux les possibilités de soutien aux pays confrontés à une insécurité alimentaire chronique, en accordant une priorité suffisante à la nutrition et en renforçant la viabilité des interventions." Au moins 155 millions d'enfants dans le monde dont 59 millions en Afrique sont durement touchés parla malnutrition particulièrement ceux des pays du Sahel et la Corne de l'Afrique. Parmi les pays d'Afrique les plus touchés par la malnutrition des enfants, les quatre pays ayant fait l'objet de cette thèse de doctorat (le Burkina Faso, le Niger, le Sénégal et l'Ethiopie) comparés au Ghana pays moins affecté, sont fragilisés à des degrés variés, par un environnement climatique et géoécologique austère, une instabilité du régime politique, un faible développement économique et social ainsi qu'une gouvernance nutritionnelle déficiente causée par le déficit d'engagements politiques, législatifs et financiers réels et les faiblesses des capacités institutionnelles. Les enfants et leurs familles sont confrontés à l'insécurité alimentaire, aux contraintes d'accessibilité et d'utilisation d'infrastructures sociales et de santé communautaires, à la pauvreté du ménage, au statut social précaire, au fardeau démographique, aux inégalités de genre entre hommes et femmes, aux contraintes de normes sociales, culturelles et de croyances traditionnelles, à l'ignorance de la malnutrition qui entretiennent des pratiques comportementales inappropriées d'alimentation et de nutrition des enfants ainsi que l'environnement insalubre vecteur de maladies. Le réveil politique, l'investissement multi sectoriel et l'éducation de masse en faveur de la nutrition des enfants sont requis pour l'atteinte des engagements mondiaux pour 2030 visant le développement, la prospérité pour tous, l'élimination de la faim et de la malnutrition.

Book excerpt: This report provides an overview of a study conducted in the NENA region in 2015-2016 in partnership with FAO, CIRAD, CIHEAM-IAMM and six national teams, each of which prepared a national report. In the six countries under review in the NENA region (Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Mauritania, Sudan and Tunisia), agriculture is carried out primarily by small-scale family farmers, the majority of whom run the risk of falling into the poverty trap, largely due to the continuous fragmentation of inherited landholdings. As such, the development of small-scale family farming can no longer be based solely on intensifying agriculture, as the farmers are not able to produce sufficient marketable surplus due to the limited size of their landholdings. An approach based strictly on agricultural activity is also insufficient (as small-scale family farms have already diversified their livelihoods with off-farm activities). In fact, developing small-scale farming cannot be achieved by focusing strictly on t he dimension of production.
