Pour évaluer sa prise en charge, une étude descriptive rétrospective a été menée, en interrogeant un échantillon de 110 généralistes et en comparant leurs réponses aux recommandations de l’ANAES. L’objectif était de connaître leurs pratiques professionnelles. L’étude a révélé que les obstacles à une bonne pratique étaient l’arrêt intempestif des antidépresseurs (87%), la gestion de pathologies multiples (72%) et le manque de temps (72%) et qu’ils souhaitaient plus de communication informelle avec d’autres professionnels (76%), une rémunération plus juste (61%) et une meilleure information du patient et de l’entourage (53%). Les stratégies thérapeutiques conformes à l’ANAES concernaient le dépistage, le diagnostic, le choix des antidépresseurs, la gestion thérapeutique des épisodes selon le degré de sévérité. Mais la durée de prescription des antidépresseurs, les co-prescriptions, l’usage des psychothérapies, le suivi, le sevrage étaient peu conformes aux Recommandations. L’étude a montré l’importance de former les médecins généralistes pendant et après leurs études, et de poursuivre ce travail de recherche en Médecine Générale.
