Possessed of facts and conversant with their administrative principles, the attainment of perfection will be readily acquired by conscientious work, enlarged experience, collateral reading, and study. With but one or two exceptions I have purposely omitted all discussion of the literature devoted to surgical nursing. The subject matter may in places reflect previous expressions and opinions, but upon the whole the text is based upon the authors personal conclusions and experiences, and the views that have been acquired by perusal of the surgical literature which has appeared from time to time in current literature and proven satisfactory in our operative work.
