Book Synopsis Finite Element Analysis of Prestressed Concrete Structures Using Post-Tensioning Steel by : Yu Huang
Download or read book Finite Element Analysis of Prestressed Concrete Structures Using Post-Tensioning Steel written by Yu Huang and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2020-05-28 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book details the theory and applications of finite element (FE) modeling of post-tensioned (PT) concrete structures, and provides the updated MATLAB code (as of 2019). The challenge of modeling PT prestressed concrete structures lies in the treatment of the interface between the concrete and prestressing tendons. Using MATLAB, this study develops an innovative nonlinear FE formulation which incorporates contact techniques and engineering elements to considerably reduce the need of computational power. This FE formulation has the ability to simulate different PT frame systems with fully bonded, fully unbonded or partially bonded tendons, as well as actual sliding behavior and frictional effects in the tendons. It also allows for the accurate simulation of anchor seating loss.

Book Synopsis Prestressed Concrete Design by : Wu-Jian Long
Download or read book Prestressed Concrete Design written by Wu-Jian Long and published by . This book was released on 2018-06 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Concrete has not been a competitive alternative for roof applications due to the heavy weight and construction complexity of concrete components, which results in being less cost effective than steel. Despite the advantages of structural steel roof systems, they have the following disadvantages: low fire resistance, being prone to corrosion, high maintenance cost, long lag period in steel orders, and increasing prices of steel. Most of these disadvantages can be addressed by using precast concrete components as they have excellent fire and corrosion resistance, low production and maintenance cost, and short order period. Recently more extensive use of precast/prestressed concrete components, which are fabricated off-site and then connected on-site, has been taking place worldwide since it shows significant benefits compared to the conventional poured on site concrete technology. Among others, the benefits are in accelerating the construction time, enhancing the quality of concrete works, improving its durability and in general generating competitive structural cost. Pre-grouted prestressing tendon, primarily in the form of single strands, was generally applied to transverse prestressing of deck slabs or other work. When pre-grouted prestressing strands are used for main tendon, more prestressing strands are required than when conventional multiple strands are used. Numerous prestressing strands therefore should be anchored in a limited anchorage region. Hence, attention should be paid in design for the arrangement of pre-grouted prestressing tendons and details of anchorage. This book entitled "Prestressed Concrete Design" aims to give an overview of the recent evolution in the design and construction of prestressed concrete worldwide. Several major trends are outline. A number of innovative techniques have been described to enhance both the structural performance and the durability of concrete. It will also address and focus on the extent to the use of structural and precast ecoefficient concretes in the applications which have been developed comply with current standards.
Book Synopsis Precast Concrete Structures by : Kim S. Elliott
Download or read book Precast Concrete Structures written by Kim S. Elliott and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-08-08 with total page 823 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This second edition of Precast Concrete Structures introduces the conceptual design ideas for the prefabrication of concrete structures and presents a number of worked examples that translate designs from BS 8110 to Eurocode EC2, before going into the detail of the design, manufacture, and construction of precast concrete multi-storey buildings. Detailed structural analysis of precast concrete and its use is provided and some details are presented of recent precast skeletal frames of up to forty storeys. The theory is supported by numerous worked examples to Eurocodes and European Product Standards for precast reinforced and prestressed concrete elements, composite construction, joints and connections and frame stability, together with extensive specifications for precast concrete structures. The book is extensively illustrated with over 500 photographs and line drawings.
Book Synopsis Prestressed Concrete Bridges by : Christian Menn
Download or read book Prestressed Concrete Bridges written by Christian Menn and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 546 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book was written to make the material presented in my book, Stahlbetonbrucken, accessible to a larger number of engineers throughout the world. A work in English, the logical choice for this task, had been contemplated as Stahlbetonbrucken was still in its earliest stages of preparation. The early success of Stahlbetonbrucken provided significant impetus for the writing of Prestressed Concrete Bridges, which began soon after the publication of its predecessor. The present work is more than a mere translation of Stahlbetonbrucken. Errors in Stahlbetonbrucken that were detected after publication have been corrected. New material on the relation between cracking in concrete and corrosion of reinforce ment, prestressing with unbonded tendons, skew-girder bridges, and cable-stayed bridges has been added. Most importantly, however, the presentation of the material has been extensively reworked to improve clarity and consistency. Prestressed Concrete Bridges can thus be regarded as a thoroughly new and improved edition of its predecessor.
Book Synopsis Prestressed Concrete Bridges by : Nigel R. Hewson
Download or read book Prestressed Concrete Bridges written by Nigel R. Hewson and published by Thomas Telford. This book was released on 2003 with total page 412 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Prestressed concrete decks are commonly used for bridges with spans between 25m and 450m and provide economic, durable and aesthetic solutions in most situations where bridges are needed. Concrete remains the most common material for bridge construction around the world, and prestressed concrete is frequently the material of choice. Extensively illustrated throughout, this invaluable book brings together all aspects of designing prestressed concrete bridge decks into one comprehensive volume. The book clearly explains the principles behind both the design and construction of prestressed concrete bridges, illustrating the interaction between the two. It covers all the different types of deck arrangement and the construction techniques used, ranging from in-situ slabs and precast beams; segmental construction and launched bridges; and cable-stayed structures. Included throughout the book are many examples of the different types of prestressed concrete decks used, with the design aspects of each discussed along with the general analysis and design process. Detailed descriptions of the prestressing components and systems used are also included. Prestressed Concrete Bridges is an essential reference book for both the experienced engineer and graduate who want to learn more about the subject.
