It comprises about square miles lying along Pecos River and extending from a point 5 miles north of Roswell to below the mouth of Seven Rivers, as shown in pi. I. In addition to the discus sion of the artesian waters, the report includes a brief' description of the geology of the sedi mentary rocks, their structure, and their relation to the underground waters. The area of owing wells is indicated on the map, pi. VI, and records of representative wells are given, which are intended to illustrate the character and succession of the water-bearing beds) Information respecting surface waters available for domestic and irrigation purposes and a brief description of the climatic. And agricultural features of the region are also given. The investigation was conducted under the direction of Mr. N. H. Darton.
