Book Synopsis Quantum Chromodynamics Sum Rules by : Cesareo A. Dominguez
Download or read book Quantum Chromodynamics Sum Rules written by Cesareo A. Dominguez and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-07-31 with total page 113 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This concise book provides the necessary background to allow interested readers to launch original research projects on the subject matter. Currently, this material is not available from one single source, and is either spread out over numerous journal publications, or covered in long and technical monographs. At the core of this book lies the sum rule approach to obtain analytic results in Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD), the current theory of strong interactions among quarks and gluons. This method fully complements Lattice QCD, the corresponding computational approach based on discretizing QCD on a space-time lattice. Applications include standard determinations of hadronic particle properties with extensions to finite temperature and density, and possibly involving the presence of extreme magnetic fields. The latter cases include stellar objects (e.g. neutron stars and magnetars) as well as high-energy proton–proton and heavy-ion collisions. Further topics concern the determination of the fundamental parameters of QCD, e.g. quark masses and the quark–gluon couplings, the hadronic contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, and electromagnetic coupling at the the W-boson mass scale.

Book Synopsis A GAUGE-INVARIANT MULTIPOLE EXPANSION SCHEME FOR HEAVY-QUARK SYSTEMS IN QUANTUM CHROMODYNAMICS. by :
Download or read book A GAUGE-INVARIANT MULTIPOLE EXPANSION SCHEME FOR HEAVY-QUARK SYSTEMS IN QUANTUM CHROMODYNAMICS. written by and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 49 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Separation of short-distance and long-distance dynamics for heavy quark-antiquark systems interacting with color gluons is investigated through a classification of gluons according to their ranges. A gauge-invariant double-multipole expansion scheme is constructed which takes into account color fluctuation of heavy-quark systems. Hadronic transitions between heavy quark-antiquark bound states as well as the static quark-antiquark potential are studied within this framework.

This book was released on 1999-02-04 with total page 518 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The proceedings of the Lake Louise Winter Institute for 1998 deal with strong interactions. This includes the jet physics and fragmentation functions as needed in high energy collider physics, deep inelastic scattering to study the structure functions of nucleons, and finally physics with the production and hadronization of quark-gluon plasma at Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. Both the theoretical developments and experimental data were presented with the intent of establishing their relationship and finding new directions of study.
Book Synopsis Lattice Methods for Quantum Chromodynamics by : Thomas DeGrand
Download or read book Lattice Methods for Quantum Chromodynamics written by Thomas DeGrand and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2006-01-01 with total page 345 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Numerical simulation of lattice-regulated QCD has become an important source of information about strong interactions. In the last few years there has been an explosion of techniques for performing ever more accurate studies on the properties of strongly interacting particles. Lattice predictions directly impact many areas of particle and nuclear physics theory and phenomenology. This book provides a thorough introduction to the specialized techniques needed to carry out numerical simulations of QCD: a description of lattice discretizations of fermions and gauge fields, methods for actually doing a simulation, descriptions of common strategies to connect simulation results to predictions of physical quantities, and a discussion of uncertainties in lattice simulations. More importantly, while lattice QCD is a well-defined field in its own right, it has many connections to continuum field theory and elementary particle physics phenomenology, which are carefully elucidated in this book.
Book Synopsis Lattice Quantum Chromodynamics by : Francesco Knechtli
Download or read book Lattice Quantum Chromodynamics written by Francesco Knechtli and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-10-20 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an overview of the techniques central to lattice quantum chromodynamics, including modern developments. The book has four chapters. The first chapter explains the formulation of quarks and gluons on a Euclidean lattice. The second chapter introduces Monte Carlo methods and details the numerical algorithms to simulate lattice gauge fields. Chapter three explains the mathematical and numerical techniques needed to study quark fields and the computation of quark propagators. The fourth chapter is devoted to the physical observables constructed from lattice fields and explains how to measure them in simulations. The book is aimed at enabling graduate students who are new to the field to carry out explicitly the first steps and prepare them for research in lattice QCD.
