Book Synopsis Frontiers in Physics - 2017 & 2018 Editor's Choice by : Thomas Beyer
Download or read book Frontiers in Physics - 2017 & 2018 Editor's Choice written by Thomas Beyer and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2019-02-22 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Launched in 2013, Frontiers in Physics consists of 18 specialties covering all areas of research in physics. With over 500 published manuscripts, the journal is now indexed in SCIE with the first impact factor coming in 2019. Frontiers in Physics aims to become the largest and most cited open access multidisciplinary physics journal. This eBook collects what the Specialty Chief Editors of the journal believed were the most interesting manuscripts published over the past two years. It is a nice collection, which will offer the reader the chance to have a quick overview of the specialties of the journal and offer a glimpse into the state of the art of physics. We must confess that it has been quite challenging to select only one article per specialty section given the many important manuscripts published by the journal in 2017 and 2018. We invite our reader to have a look at the journal homepage and browse what we have published so far. It includes articles on topics very different from each other, written by both early career scientists and well-known researchers, ranging from the indisputable advance of the field to the more bold. We hope you enjoy reading our first edition of the Frontiers in Physics Editor's Choice eBook! Professor Alex Hansen (Field Chief Editor) and Dr Claudio Bogazzi (Journal Manager)
Book Synopsis Magnetospheric Imaging by : Yaireska M. Collado-Vega
Download or read book Magnetospheric Imaging written by Yaireska M. Collado-Vega and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2021-12-04 with total page 430 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Magnetospheric Imaging: Understanding the Space Environment through Global Measurements is a state-of-the-art resource on new and advanced techniques and technologies used in measuring and examining the space environment on a global scale. Chapters detail this emergent field by exploring optical imaging, ultraviolet imaging, energetic neutral atom imaging, X-ray imaging, radio frequency imaging, and magnetic field imaging. Each technique is clearly described, with details about the technologies involved, how they work, and both their opportunities and limitations. Magnetospheric imaging is still a relatively young capability in magnetospheric research, hence this book is an ideal resource on this burgeoning field of study. This book is a comprehensive resource for understanding where the field stands, as well as providing a stepping stone for continued advancement of the field, from developing new techniques, to applying techniques on other planetary bodies. Summarizes and reviews significant progress in the field of magnetospheric imaging Covers all of the techniques and technologies available, including a basic overview of each, as well as what it can accomplish, how it works, what its limitations are, and how it might be improved Details ways for measuring the space environment on a global scale, what physical measurements various technologies can provide, and how they can be effectively used
Book Synopsis Space Radiation Dosimeter SSJ* for the Block 5D/Flight 7 DMSP Satellite by : M. S. Gussenhoven
Download or read book Space Radiation Dosimeter SSJ* for the Block 5D/Flight 7 DMSP Satellite written by M. S. Gussenhoven and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The DMSP/F7 satellite carries, in addition to weather monitoring devices, a number of instruments that measure the space environment for the purpose of scientific study. These are an auroral imaging device, precipitating electron and ion detectors, a thermal plasma analyzer, a fluxgate magnetometer, and a space radiation dosimeter. Together, these provide a strong tool for analyzing the high latitude, near-Earth, magnetospheric environment. This report has been prepared to facilitate the use of the data from one of these instruments, the space radiation dosimeter, and to show the data can be used to obtain both dose and flux measurements of high energy Relativtic electrons and protons at low altitudes. The report includes: a description of the DMSP/F7 orbit; a description of the space radiation dosimeter and the data it returns; the method by which dose is determined; the method by which flux is determined; and a discussion of the use of high threshold energy proton and ion induced star counts. Appendices A and B present the response of the dosimeter to electron bremsstrahlung and a list of the interactive routines available at AFGL for data analysis.
