Download or read book Optimization of Nd:YAG Laser Welding Using Grey Relational Analysis written by Rakesh Kumar Padhi and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2012 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book highlights the optimization of Nd: YAG Laser welding by using Taguchi method based GRA. The aim of this research is to optimize and predict Nd: YAG laser welding process parameters with multiple quality characteristics of economically important materials in industry through application of Taguchi method based Grey Relational Analysis as a DOE approach to design the experiments and optimize the welding operation. This was achieved by controlling selected welding parameters, such as, laser pulse width, pulse height, frequency, welding speed, shielding gas flow rate, shielding gas flow angle and focus position, and thereafter, to analyse the influence of these parameters on the weld bead geometry and the mechanical properties of the welds. The material was investigated in this work was AISI 304 SS. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) is also employed to determine the contribution of each control parameter on the welding quality characteristics. For each welded joint, the main effects and the interaction effects of the process parameters on the responses were discussed and presented graphically

Book excerpt: The increasing use of automated laser welding processes causes high demands on process monitoring. This work demonstrates methods that use a camera mounted on the focussing optics to perform pre-, in-, and post-process monitoring of welding processes. The implementation uses machine learning methods. All algorithms consider the integration into industrial processes. These challenges include a small database, limited industrial manufacturing inference hardware, and user acceptance.
Book Synopsis A GA Approach to the Optimization of Laser Beam Welding Process by : G.Harinath Gowd
Download or read book A GA Approach to the Optimization of Laser Beam Welding Process written by G.Harinath Gowd and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2013-01 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Automation of a manufacturing process has become the order of the day in industries in order to achieve high production rates and high quality of finished components. However, in order to automate a process it is essential to find the best values of process variables. In turn, this requires the establishment of precise quantitative relationships between the process control variables and the chosen output responses. The scope of the proposed work is intended to develop such relationships for the chosen responses in terms of input variables and utilizes those developed relations to find the optimal set of process variables in Laser welding and Laser machining. Once the optimal values are found, then the process could be automated based on them there by reducing the manpower thus reduces the welding cost.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: OPTIMIZATION of INDUSTRIAL SYSTEMS Including the latest industrial solution-based practical applications, this is the most comprehensive and up-to-date study of the optimization of industrial systems for engineers, scientists, students, and other professionals. In order to deal with societal challenges, novel technologies play an important role. For the advancement of technology, it is essential to share innovative ideas and thoughts on a common platform where researchers across the globe meet together and revitalize their knowledge and skills to tackle the challenges that the world faces. The high complexity of the issues related to societal interdisciplinary research is the key to future revolutions. From research funders to journal editors, policymakers to think tanks, all seem to agree that the future of research lies outside disciplinary boundaries. In such prevailing conditions, various working scenarios, conditions, and strategies need to be optimized. Optimization is a multidisciplinary term, and its essence can be inculcated in any domain of business, research, and other associated working dynamics. Globalization provides all-around development, and this development is impossible without technological contributions. This volume’s mission is at the core of industrial engineering. All the manuscripts appended in this volume were double-blind peer-reviewed by committee members and the review team, promising high-quality research. This book provides deep insights to its readers about the current scenarios and future advancements of industrial engineering.
