Book Synopsis Growing through the Storm by : Sheila Malsam
Download or read book Growing through the Storm written by Sheila Malsam and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-04-19 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: So often we think God doesn't hear us during our struggles when we cry out to Him. Like many, after praying and not getting a response, I thought it was up to me to find the solutions and answers to struggles I encountered. As a result of my ignorance, I replaced God and His power with what I thought were answers that weren't the answers after all. Growing through the Storm is a story of triumphs and lessons learned while trying to find solutions to unwanted circumstances during not one, but two troubled marriages. I share how I clung to attachments such as doubt, fear, worry, self-pity, blame, insecurity, and unworthiness that kept me from receiving what God had in store for me. I share how God revealed Himself to me through the storm and how He used my pain to grow me stronger, wiser, and more confident of His love which led me to an awakening in my spirit and a personal relationship with our Lord. Unfortunately, many of us are guilty of living the life that I used to live. If that's you, it doesn't have to be this way. I invite you to take a journey with me by reading my story and trusting that you, too, can be made anew, strengthened, and blessed by turning to Jesus, surrendering your all to Him, and discovering His amazing grace and love He has for you. Growing through the Storm includes points to ponder at the end of each chapter with thought-provoking questions and comments including scripture and prayer for personal reflection. I pray my story infuses your heart to put your hope in Jesus and His promises to believe, "With God all things are possible," as promised in Matthew 19:26 (NIV) when asked according to His will in His name! Be blessed and be a blessing!

Book excerpt: In this collection of essays, Professor Zahavy explores the origins and early history of prayer in Judaism. He examines the growth of rabbanic liturgy from immediately after the destruction of the Temple in 70 CE until the close of the Talmud of the Land of Israel. Zahavy shows how rabbanic rules for prayer reflect the historical circumstances of the Jews in late antique Israel. He argues, based on close textual analysis, that rabbis had little influence over the governance of synagogues in the first and second centuries.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: BackDescription The desire of God for us is not sickness, pain and death. He created the world for the pleasure and profit of man. He never made sickness of any kind but He made all things beautiful for man to enjoy. “My dear friend, I pray that everything may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as I know you are well in spirit”- 3John 2 KJV. The desire of God is that our body, soul and spirit will prosper to His glory and praise. The enemy; the devil opened a channel to sickness and suffering when he tempted man in the Garden of Eden and man fell. This failure meant that man lost the glorious body that cannot be sick, but thanks be to God because God through the death of Christ on the cross, has brought us all round healing and divine health. Through the cross also we look forward to the complete restoration of our perfect, glorious bodies that will know no form of sickness. It is very true that God gave man the gift to cure diseases with drugs and other use of natural endowment but it does not deny the truth about divine healings and miracles. Miracles are still happening today by the power and grace of God. This can be your opportunity to witness or partake in divine healing through this book. Just believe and trust in Jesus Christ for the miracles.

Download or read book One Hundred Doses written by Teddy Jones and published by Sunstone Press. This book was released on 2012-01-15 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Farm and ranch women are the heart of an important American institution, agriculture. Their strength is a critical resource for their families and communities. This book offers those women their own special prescription for health and well-being in one hundred small doses. Some “capsules” remind of care to be taken daily, some to be taken regularly, others to take as needed, several to give to family and friends and still more to apply to the community. Reading this book won’t make you immediately “feel good” like a warm beverage or a serving of your mother’s best meal. It won’t always bring a tear of nostalgia to the eye or a longing for the good old days. But like a good tonic, these capsules of advice and encouragement will stimulate you. You’ll find essays that will boost your morale. Others will prompt you to be grateful. Several instruct about health matters. And some will even make you laugh. There’s no better prescription than that, is there? TEDDY JONES, R.N., Ph.D., is a Family Nurse Practitioner. Before she and her husband began farming his family’s land near Friona, Texas, she was a Professor at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing, in Lubbock, Texas. Growing up in a rural town in central North Texas, she spent lots of happy times with cousins on their families’ wheat and dairy farms. Those experiences and her admiration for those who farm and ranch prompted her to develop and teach elective courses in Rural Health Nursing. That same interest spurred her to develop the concept for her health promotion column, “In The Middle Of It All,” which appears monthly in “The Farmer Stockman.” She practices part-time as a Nurse Practitioner in New Mexico and writes when she’s not helping with the farm work. SUE JANE SULLIVAN, B.S.Ed., teaches in the only school in the only town in Borden County, Texas. That rural school is not far from the area where she grew up, surrounded by ranches, farms and oil wells. Like most people in farming and ranching areas, she can and does fill many roles. She teaches English, Spanish, history and government and coaches Interscholastic League literary events including debate, journalism, and spelling. She’s a free-lance newspaper writer and her newsletter, “A New Song,” is a regular source of encouragement for the special group of friends for whom she publishes it. A major inspiration for her work is her maternal grandmother who was widowed at 41, during the Great Depression. She managed to keep and operate the family farm and raise five children long before the term single parent was invented.

Book Synopsis Arts of Engagement by : Dylan Robinson
Download or read book Arts of Engagement written by Dylan Robinson and published by Wilfrid Laurier Univ. Press. This book was released on 2016-07-15 with total page 548 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Arts of Engagement focuses on the role that music, film, visual art, and Indigenous cultural practices play in and beyond Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission on Indian Residential Schools. Contributors here examine the impact of aesthetic and sensory experience in residential school history, at TRC national and community events, and in artwork and exhibitions not affiliated with the TRC. Using the framework of “aesthetic action,” the essays expand the frame of aesthetics to include visual, aural, and kinetic sensory experience, and question the ways in which key components of reconciliation such as apology and witnessing have social and political effects for residential school survivors, intergenerational survivors, and settler publics. This volume makes an important contribution to the discourse on reconciliation in Canada by examining how aesthetic and sensory interventions offer alternative forms of political action and healing. These forms of aesthetic action encompass both sensory appeals to empathize and invitations to join together in alliance and new relationships as well as refusals to follow the normative scripts of reconciliation. Such refusals are important in their assertion of new terms for conciliation, terms that resist the imperatives of reconciliation as a form of resolution. This collection charts new ground by detailing the aesthetic grammars of reconciliation and conciliation. The authors document the efficacies of the TRC for the various Indigenous and settler publics it has addressed, and consider the future aesthetic actions that must be taken in order to move beyond what many have identified as the TRC’s political limitations.
Book Synopsis Stewards of Grace by : Rollin G. Grams
Download or read book Stewards of Grace written by Rollin G. Grams and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2010-07-01 with total page 223 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stewards of Grace tells several stories in one. It is a story of two faithful stewards of God's grace called to serve the poor, despised, and marginalized in apartheid South Africa. It is a story that captures how cross-cultural missions from the west at the end of the colonial era led to a thriving church in the southern hemisphere. It is a story of God's power to redeem and transform the lost, heal the sick, and build the church of Jesus Christ. It is a story of the positives and negatives of Pentecostal missions in its third generation in the mid-twentieth century. And it is a story of radical Christian discipleship. Written first for those who would like to know the story of the first of six decades of ministry for Eugene and Phyllis Grams, this book also reflects on mission theology and practice. The very personal story is full of painful struggles and amazing miracles, human opposition and divine triumph, and examples of how God's plan works through and despite human weaknesses for the praise of his glory and grace. Reflection on ministry, missions, theology, and the Christian life are based on Scripture, history, and the Grams' personal experiences. The biographical narrative explores such things as the call to Christian service, evangelism, church planting, justice, compassion, cross-cultural ministry, partnerships, and spiritual power. The result is both a riveting biography and a narrative theology of mission practice to challenge and encourage every believer.
