Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: About the AuthorJanel D. Jordan is married to Maurice Jordan; mother to two sons, Courtney and Maurice Jr., grandmother to Hailey Grace, daughter to Mildred L. Johnson and sister to Pam, Kim, and David. Above all things, I am a child of the King and an ordained minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. To God be the glory. I currently attend Calvary Broken Vessels Ministry in St. Louis, MO. My daily prayer and desire in found in Psalm 119:133 which says, "Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me." The LORD has ordered my steps to be of encouragement to those in need. It started with a devotional e-mail sent out on June 6, 2007. Something I thought was a one-time occurrence. Three years later the Praise The LORD Everybody! E-mail ministry is going strong and has now evolved into the "Praise The LORD Everybody! (366 Exhortations To Start Your Day In The Presence Of The LORD)" inspirational, devotional book. To God be the glory. I have worked in the St. Louis Public School District for 20 years mainly in the Preschool capacity. I work very diligently with a charity the LORD has placed in my husband, Maurice's, heart called the "Secret Santa Club," which grants up to 3 Christmas wishes to Pre-k -1st grade under privileged students in the SLPS school district. To date we have been a blessing to our families by granting over 1400 students their Christmas wishes. To God be the glory. One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple, Psalm 27:4. Amen!

Book excerpt: Mara Brandine is a young woman who moves between the worlds of Academia and Pentecostalia almost breathlessly, until a professor charges her with exploring her "shadow subordinate", a side of herself that is darker than the politeness that pervades her life. This is a charge that goes against Mara's religious upbringing, but plays into her anger at the church's rampant hypocrisy. Armed with nothing but a sharp wit, imagination and a few close friends, Mara must navigate the now-murky waters of self-realization without embodying the meaning of her name. This task becomes all the more difficult when one especially greasy 'lady' takes interest in one of the church bachelors.

Book Synopsis Worship as Community Drama by : Pierre Hegy
Download or read book Worship as Community Drama written by Pierre Hegy and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2019-03-22 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Church weddings, funerals, and most Sunday services reflect the values and dramas of their communities, even when the ministers are the main or sole actors. This point is illustrated by examples ranging from American television masses to the Zairean three-hour services in the Congo. Of greatest interest to readers might be the Sunday services at ordinary parishes, which also range from friendly but uninspiring to innovative and inviting. There are also two exceptionally vital churches analyzed here: an evangelical church in the Pentecostal tradition and a social justice parish in the tradition of Martin Luther King Jr. Today one can hardly buy an item in a store or on the Internet without being asked for an evaluation, yet church services are seldom evaluated. There can be no improvement without evaluation. This book proposes a method of evaluation in eight steps that must be rigorously scientific and at the same time offer a vision for spiritual growth. The prophet Elijah found God in earthquakes and fire, but most people find mystery through art, music, rhythm, chanting, expressive readings, evocative rituals, and enlightened homilies. Today people expect “mystagogy” rather than routine performances. Mystagogy can be learned and improved through evaluation, to which this book desires to make a major contribution.

After Ruth dies from cancer, he is faced with who he is and how to fulfill his calling from God. The prophet John takes Samuel under his wings, and the team goes to the Sudan to minister to the people in the midst of a terrible war. The people are sick, homeless, and afraid. Despite Johns reservations of having no experience with this type of ministry, they pack up and leave for the Sudan with no money and very little faith to accomplish the task. Why had God sent them to the Sudan? How would Samuel, John, and the team fulfill the call that God had for them?

Community is more than just a word--it is one of our most fundamental requirements. So how do flawed, abnormal people such as ourselves master the forces that can drive us apart and come together in the life-changing relationships God designed us for? In Everybody's Normal Till You Get to Know Them, teacher and bestselling author John Ortberg zooms in on the things that make community tick. You'll get a thought-provoking look at God's heart, at others, and at yourself. Even better, you'll gain wisdom and tools for drawing closer to others in powerful, impactful ways. With humor, insight, and a gift for storytelling, Ortberg shows how community pays tremendous dividends in happiness, health, support, and growth. It's where all of us weird, unwieldy people encounter God's love in tangible ways and discover the transforming power of being loved, accepted, and valued just the way we are.
