Book Synopsis Private Pilot Airman Certification Standards - Airplane by : Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
Download or read book Private Pilot Airman Certification Standards - Airplane written by Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and published by Ravenio Books. This book was released on 2016-09-25 with total page 275 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has published the Private Pilot - Airplane Airman Certification Standards (ACS) document to communicate the aeronautical knowledge, risk management, and flight proficiency standards for the private pilot certification in the airplane category, single-engine land and sea; and multiengine land and sea classes. This ACS incorporates and supersedes the previous Private Pilot Practical Test Standards for Airplane, FAA-S-8081-14. The FAA views the ACS as the foundation of its transition to a more integrated and systematic approach to airman certification. The ACS is part of the safety management system (SMS) framework that the FAA uses to mitigate risks associated with airman certification training and testing. Specifically, the ACS, associated guidance, and test question components of the airman certification system are constructed around the four functional components of an SMS: Safety Policy that defines and describes aeronautical knowledge, flight proficiency, and risk management as integrated components of the airman certification system; Safety Risk Management processes through which internal and external stakeholders identify and evaluate regulatory changes, safety recommendations and other factors that require modification of airman testing and training materials; Safety Assurance processes to ensure the prompt and appropriate incorporation of changes arising from new regulations and safety recommendations; and Safety Promotion in the form of ongoing engagement with both external stakeholders (e.g., the aviation training industry) and FAA policy divisions. The FAA has developed this ACS and its associated guidance in collaboration with a diverse group of aviation training experts. The goal is to drive a systematic approach to all components of the airman certification system, including knowledge test question development and conduct of the practical test. The FAA acknowledges and appreciates the many hours that these aviation experts have contributed toward this goal. This level of collaboration, a hallmark of a robust safety culture, strengthens and enhances aviation safety at every level of the airman certification system.
Book Synopsis How to Pass a Checkride by : Ben York III
Download or read book How to Pass a Checkride written by Ben York III and published by Gatekeeper Press. This book was released on with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How to Pass a Checkride details the wisdom garnered by author and pilot Ben York III’s many years of giving and taking countless practical tests in aviation. His professional experience testifies to the fact that the majority of unsatisfactory performance in aviation test taking is due to the emotional aspect, not the technical aspect. How to Pass a Checkride attempts to identify, highlight, and mitigate the emotional aspects of taking the practical test—and how to succeed as a pilot. Book Review 1: "Well done and a needed addition to the apprentice pilot’s aviation library. Heck, if ol’ farts, such as myself, see value in your book, it should go to anyone in the process of adding a rating or obtaining anything from the PPC on." -- Billy Walker, Retired airline captain and author Book Review 2: “How to Pass a Checkride by Ben York III is a must read for any aviation enthusiast. Whether it is your first day in aviation or you have been in the industry for 20 years this book provides great insight. The topics discussed are not ones usually elaborated on by aviators. If you are looking to learn, seek advice, even laugh this book is for you. A checkride is one of the most stressful times for any aviator and this book breaks down every process with empathy, motivation, and understanding. I wish this existed when I myself were going through flight training. It would have been a perspective that could have helped me succeed." -- Justine White, Flight Instructor and Airline Pilot Book Review 3: This book is an essential read for all pilots, flight instructors, and examiners. As a former FAA aviation safety inspector and current designated pilot examiner, I have done thousands of practical tests. Mr. York’s insight on the psychology of the test is very enlightening, and his encouragement to the pilot is inspiring. Having known Mr. York for almost 30 years I can say his enthusiasm for pilots to enjoy flying as much as he does never stops. He is a mentor and master of the skies." -- Jacob Hansen, Pilot Examiner
