Book Synopsis Coupling Power Generation with Syngas-Based Chemical Synthesis by : Clemens Forman
Download or read book Coupling Power Generation with Syngas-Based Chemical Synthesis written by Clemens Forman and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-06-13 with total page 147 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Coupling power generation with syngas-based chemical synthesis according to the so-called ‘Polygeneration-Annex’ concept offers economic and technical benefits. Clemens Forman assesses the integration of incoming streams by the Annex plant from a power plant point of view across its full load range. Analyses are done by load-dependent flowsheet simulation. The pulverized lignite combustion power plant process is covered by two generic technical states: an existing 650 MW(el) power plant and a near future 1,100 MW(el) power plant with duo block design and dry lignite co-firing. Modeling comprises both the flue gas path and the water-steam circuit. Appropriate stream interfaces are identified and determined depending on the load status. The technical feasibility of integration can be proven.
Book Synopsis THERMAL POWER PLANT AND CO-GENERATION PLANNING - VoLUME III by :
Download or read book THERMAL POWER PLANT AND CO-GENERATION PLANNING - VoLUME III written by and published by . This book was released on 2010-10-05 with total page 424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These volumes are a component of Encyclopedia of Water Sciences, Engineering and Technology Resources in the global Encyclopedia of Life Support Systems (EOLSS), which is an integrated compendium of twenty one Encyclopedias. These volumes discuss on Large-scale power production which requires the use of heat in a thermodynamic cycle to produce mechanical work, which in turn can generate electrical energy. Substantial quantities of fuel are hence required to sustain the production of heat. Fuel may be combustible, as in the case of fossil fuels such as coal and oil, or fissionable, as in the case of nuclear fuels such as uranium. All fuels produce waste products, which must be discharged, dumped, or stored. Such products range from innocuous water vapor to hazardous nuclear waste. These volumes are aimed at the following five major target audiences: University and College Students Educators, Professional Practitioners, Research Personnel and Policy and Decision Makers
Book Synopsis Power Plant Characteristics and Costs by : Stan Kaplan
Download or read book Power Plant Characteristics and Costs written by Stan Kaplan and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book analyses the factors that determine the cost of electricity from new power plants. These factors, including construction costs, fuel expense, environmental regulations, and financing costs can all be affected by government energy, environmental, and economic policies. Government decisions to influence or not influence these factors can largely determine the kind of power plants that are built in the future. This book provides projections of the possible cost of power from new fossil, nuclear, and renewable plants built in 2015, illustrating how different assumptions, such as the availability of federal incentives, change the cost rankings of technologies. None of the projections are intended to be a "most likely" case. Future uncertainties preclude firm forecasts. The rankings of the technologies by cost are therefore also an approximation and should not be viewed as definitive estimates of the relative cost-competitiveness of each option. The value of this book is not as a source of point estimates of future power costs, but as a source of insight into the factors that can determine future outcomes, including factors that can be influenced by Congress.

Book Synopsis Advances in Carbon Management Technologies by : Subhas Sikdar
Download or read book Advances in Carbon Management Technologies written by Subhas Sikdar and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-03-19 with total page 471 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances in Carbon Management Technologies comprises 43 chapters contributed by experts from all over the world. Volume 1 of the book, containing 23 chapters, discusses the status of technologies capable of yielding substantial reduction of carbon dioxide emissions from major combustion sources. Such technologies include renewable energy sources that can replace fossil fuels and technologies to capture CO2 after fossil fuel combustion or directly from the atmosphere, with subsequent permanent long-term storage. The introductory chapter emphasizes the gravity of the issues related to greenhouse gas emissionglobal temperature correlation, the state of the art of key technologies and the necessary emission reductions needed to meet international warming targets. Section 1 deals with global challenges associated with key fossil fuel mitigation technologies, including removing CO2 from the atmosphere, and emission measurements. Section 2 presents technological choices for coal, petroleum, and natural gas for the purpose of reducing carbon footprints associated with the utilization of such fuels. Section 3 deals with promising contributions of alternatives to fossil fuels, such as hydropower, nuclear, solar photovoltaics, and wind. Chapter 19 of this book is freely available as a downloadable Open Access PDF at http://www.taylorfrancis.com under a Creative Commons Attribution-Non Commercial-No Derivatives (CC-BY-NC-ND) 4.0 license.

Download or read book Coal Utilisation written by L. Grainger and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 517 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors who have collaborated in writing this book have also worked together for more than a decade in promoting Coal Utilisation R&D. They bear a substantial responsibility for the way the policy of the National Coal Board in this field has developed since 1966 and, more directly, for the programme of work at the Coal Research Establishment, Stoke Orchard, near Cheltenham. After a period of relative neglect, R&D on Coal Utilisation has flourished in recent years, both in extent and the importance ascribed to it. A large amount of technical data has been obtained from the pioneering experimental work and this will form the foundation on which vast new industries can be based. The timing and organisation of the application of technical information into these new coal conversion industries represents, in the authors' view, the most important question in the whole field of energy, which is now widely recognised as a vital aspect of social and economic development. The scale of the new coal utilisation enterprises will be greater, and their success more critical, than that of any other development in the field of energy, including that of nuclear power or the renewable resources. This book is, therefore, not directed specifically at technical experts in the field of coal utilisation, and in particular it is not intended to enlighten those who specialise in particular sections of this technology.
