Book Synopsis Modern Developments in Powder Metallurgy by : Henry H. Hausner
Download or read book Modern Developments in Powder Metallurgy written by Henry H. Hausner and published by Springer. This book was released on 1995-12-31 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Five years ago, the worldwide powder metallurgy fraternity gathered in New York City to attend the first international conference devoted entirely to powder metal lurgy to take place in the United States. It was a tentative venture, entered into by the sponsors with no idea as to whether it would fail or succeed. The only assurances we had were that the metal-powder producing and consuming industries were rapidly expanding and that powder metallurgy was truly becoming one of the international sciences. The 1960 Conference was successful not only in terms of attendance and interest, but also in terms of knowledge gained. The literature had been enriched by the contributions of its participants to foster and encourage this type of world wide exchange. Thus, another such conference was held in 1965-expanded in scope and supplemented by an exhibition of the latest advances in raw materials, processing equipment, and finished products of powder metallurgy. On behalf of the Conference sponsors-the Metal Powder Industries Federa tion, the American Powder Metallurgy Institute, and the Metallurgical Society of AIME-I thank all those who participated and who helped make the 1965 Interna tional Powder Metallurgy Conference a rewarding experience and memorable event in our industry's history. Support of the National Science Foundation, which made it possible for several speakers from abroad to participate in the program, is gratefully acknowledged.

Book excerpt: Powder Metallurgy discusses the production of metal powders and other materials made from it. It defines the meaning of metal powders with some illustrations. The book also identifies the processes similar between the production of metal powder and ceramic products. The technology involved and the variation in the process of metallurgy are covered in some chapters of the book. The book enumerates certain advantages in using powder metallurgy over other processes. Methods such as the reduction of the oxides of metals, electrolysis, thermal dissociation, and chemical disintegration are explained. The origin and improvement made on the method are discussed in detail. The goods created using the process are also explained, as well as the types of metals that are being used. A chapter of the book focuses on the flaws of powder metallurgy. The book will provide useful information to metal smiths, chemists, students, and researchers in the field of chemistry.

Book Synopsis Powder Metallurgy of Superalloys by : G. H. Gessinger
Download or read book Powder Metallurgy of Superalloys written by G. H. Gessinger and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 363 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Powder Metallurgy of Superalloys details the advancement of powder metallurgy in the context of producing superalloys. The book is comprised of nine chapters that cover the underlying principles of superalloys produced through powder metallurgy. The text first covers concerns in pre-alloyed dispersion-free powders, such as powder production and characterization; powder consolidation methods; and quality control and non-destructive evaluation of P/M superalloys. The next chapter talks about oxide-dispersion-strengthened superalloys. Next, the book discusses joining techniques for P/M superalloys and the practical applications of P/M superalloys. The title will be of great use to professionals in the materials manufacturing industry.
Book Synopsis Perspectives in Powder Metallurgy Fundamentals, Methods, and Applications by : H. Hausner
Download or read book Perspectives in Powder Metallurgy Fundamentals, Methods, and Applications written by H. Hausner and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Powder metallurgy literature in the English language includes a large number of books and several thousand articles in various journals. The rate of growth of this literature increases from year to year. It covers well the whole field of powder metallurg- materials, processes and products - with two exceptions: friction and antifriction branches of powder metallurgy. This lack of information has nothing to do with scientific or technical considerations, and definitely has nothing to do with lack of initiative in the development of these materials. The industry concerned with the production of friction and antifriction materials is continually developing new products and techniques and produc tion is steadily growing. However, most companies working on these materials regard their experiences and new advancements as "proprietary" and, for competitive reasons, are not interested in publishing in the technical literature except for very perfunctory and usually highly commercial papers. Very little work on fric tion and antifriction materials is going on in independent labora tories and university laboratories, although fundamental studies in this field offer very interesting aspects.

Book Synopsis Powder Metallurgy by : Katsuyoshi Kondoh
Download or read book Powder Metallurgy written by Katsuyoshi Kondoh and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2012-03-09 with total page 135 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From high-performance, economical and environmental points of view, Powder metallurgy process shows remarkable advantages in production of parts and components due to their special compositions by elemental mixing and 3-dimensional near net shape forming methods. Powder metallurgy process can be applied to not only metal materials but also ceramics and organic materials, which both are employed as structural and electrical products. Author contributions to Powder metallurgy present excellent and significantly important research topics to evaluate various properties and performance of P/M materials for applying these materials as actual components. In particular, the life estimation of P/M ferrous materials by sliding contact fatigue test and tribological performance evaluation of P/M semi-metallic materials are focused and introduced in this book.

Book Synopsis Advanced Experimental Techniques in Powder Metallurgy by : Joel S. Hirschhorn
Download or read book Advanced Experimental Techniques in Powder Metallurgy written by Joel S. Hirschhorn and published by Springer. This book was released on 1995-12-31 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The increasing use of powder metallurgy techniques to make an almost infinite variety of materials and products places greater emphasis on utilization of sophisticated experimental techniques. Usually research and development efforts initiate the use of newly developed equipment and analytical procedures. Indeed, the contents of this book are strongly linked to research endeavors, in both the academic and industrials worlds. However, this volume can serve a much needed function in industrial applied powder metallurgy. Although many research ers will find the contents of great value, the technical personnel more involved with production, quality control, customer services and product design now have at their dispo sal a means to learn about the potential uses of several very important techniques. With today's "knowledge explosion" the present set of papers greatly facilitates the comprehension and adoption of new procedures. If powder metallurgy is to continue its rapid rate of growth in virtually all segments of industry, then the transition of modern equipment and procedures from tools of research and development laboratories to everyday plant operations and applications must be hastened. The editors hope that this volume aids in this process, as well as assisting students and researchers by providing a ready source of up-to-date useful information.
