Book excerpt: Weighted values of non-atomic games were introduced by Hart and Monderer (1997). They study these values by using two approaches: the potential approach and the asymptotic approach. In this study we develop the random order approach (the mixing value, Aumann and Shapley, 1974) to weighted values and prove that these values coincide with the asymptotic weighted values of Hart and Monderer in pNA.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The "Shapley value" of a finite multi- person game associates to each player the amount he should be willing to pay to participate. This book extends the value concept to certain classes of non-atomic games, which are infinite-person games in which no individual player has significance. It is primarily a book of mathematics—a study of non-additive set functions and associated linear operators. Originally published in 1974. The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press. These editions preserve the original texts of these important books while presenting them in durable paperback and hardcover editions. The goal of the Princeton Legacy Library is to vastly increase access to the rich scholarly heritage found in the thousands of books published by Princeton University Press since its founding in 1905.

Book excerpt: The paper reports the second study in a series concerned with the value of participation in a non-atomic game. A non-atomic game is a special type of infinite-person game in which no individual player has significant influence on the outcome. The work develops the concept of mixing value and presents a new approach based on mixing transformations. A program is outlined for imposing a probability measure on the space of all measurable orders. Some consideration is given to the asymptotic approach, in which a game with a continuum is treated as a limit of games with finitely many players. It is significant that all values defined in the axiomatic, mixing, and asymptotic approaches possess a common diagonal property.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Festschrift volume is published in honor of Professor Paul G. Spirakis on the occasion of his 60th birthday. It celebrates his significant contributions to computer science as an eminent, talented, and influential researcher and most visionary thought leader, with a great talent in inspiring and guiding young researchers. The book is a reflection of his main research activities in the fields of algorithms, probability, networks, and games, and contains a biographical sketch as well as essays and research contributions from close collaborators and former PhD students.
Book Synopsis Handbook of Game Theory with Economic Applications by : R.J. Aumann
Download or read book Handbook of Game Theory with Economic Applications written by R.J. Aumann and published by North Holland. This book was released on 2002-08-19 with total page 900 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the third volume of the Handbook of Game Theory with Economic Applications. Since the publication of multi-Volume 1 a decade ago, game theory has continued to develop at a furious pace, and today it is the dominant tool in economic theory. The three volumes together cover the fundamental theoretical aspects, a wide range of applications to economics, several chapters on applications to political science and individual chapters on applications to disciplines as diverse as evolutionary biology, computer science, law, psychology and ethics. The authors are the most eminent practitioners in the field, including three Nobel Prize winners. The topics covered in the present volume include strategic ("Nash") equilibrium; incomplete information; two-person non-zero-sum games; noncooperative games with a continuum of players; stochastic games; industrial organization; bargaining, inspection; economic history; the Shapley value and its applications to perfectly competitive economies, to taxation, to public goods and to fixed prices; political science; law mechanism design; and game experimentation.
