Book Synopsis Surface and Interface Analysis by : Rudolf Holze
Download or read book Surface and Interface Analysis written by Rudolf Holze and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-10-08 with total page 317 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A broad, almost encyclopedic overview of spectroscopic and other analytical techniques useful for investigations of phase boundaries in electrochemistry is presented. The analysis of electrochemical interfaces and interphases on a microscopic, even molecular level, is of central importance for an improved understanding of the structure and dynamics of these phase boundaries. The gained knowledge will be needed for improvements of methods and applications reaching from electrocatalysis, electrochemical energy conversion, biocompatibility of metals, corrosion protection to galvanic surface treatment and finishing. The book provides an overview as complete as possible and enables the reader to choose methods most suitable for tackling his particular task. It is nevertheless compact and does not flood the reader with the details of review papers.
Book Synopsis GABCOM & GABMET by : Gmelin Institut
Download or read book GABCOM & GABMET written by Gmelin Institut and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1993-07-02 with total page 724 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The scientific literature in chemistry and physics abounds with abbreviations of chemical compounds, physical methods and mathematical procedures. Unfortunately, many authors take it for granted that the reader knows the meaning of an abbreviation, something quite trivial for a specialist. For the less informed reader, these abbreviations thus present definite communication problems. The Gmelin Institute of Inorganic Chemistry of the Max Planck Society has collected more than 4000 abbreviations for methods and terms from chemistry, physics and mathematics and more than 4000 chemical compounds (mostly ligands in coordination chemistry and standard reagents for physical and analytical methods). GABCOM and GABMET provide an overview enabling readers and authors to check the definition of an abbreviation used by an author and to see whether this abbreviation is already being used for other purposes. GABCOM and GABMET are also in preparation in electronic form (data file and search software) for IBM-PC or compatible computers.
Book Synopsis Sensors, Chemical and Biochemical Sensors by : Joachim Hesse
Download or read book Sensors, Chemical and Biochemical Sensors written by Joachim Hesse and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-11-20 with total page 531 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Sensors' is the first self-contained series to deal with the whole area of sensors. It describes general aspects, technical and physical fundamentals, construction, function, applications and developments of the various types of sensors. This is the second of two volumes focusing on chemical and biochemical sensors. It includes a detailed description of biosensors which often make use of transducer properties of the basic sensors and usually have additional biological components. This volume provides a unique overview of the applications, the possibilities and limitations of sensors in comparison with conventional instrumentation in analytical chemistry. Specific facettes of applications are presented by specialists from different fields including environmental, biotechnological, medical, or chemical process control. This book is an indispensable reference work for both specialits and newcomers, researchers and developers.

This book was released on 2001-03-12 with total page 2136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With 200,000 entries in over eighty different fields, Scientific and Technical Acronyms, Symbols, and Abbreviations is the most comprehensive reference of its type, covering more scientific and technical disciplines than any other available book. This invaluable resource will help scientists, engineers, and researchers understand and utilize current terminology in almost any field-from aeronautics to zoology. All accepted abbreviations, acronyms, and symbols are included, from the most obscure to the most common, as well as an appendix that provides important lists of units, systems of units, conversion factors, and prefixes. Science writers, journalists, translators, interpreters-anyone working in or around the sciences-will find this a helpful, easy-to-use guide to difficult technical jargon. Entries are listed in alphabetical order and are defined according to the field in which they are currently in use. Multiple definitions are listed for abbreviations and acronyms that may be in use in more than one field. For instance, the entry for the abbreviation "cb" would show several meanings: "CB" for Canada Balsam, "Cb" for cerebellum, and "c-B" for crystalline boron, among others. Entries for terms in languages other than English are included, as well as abbreviations for all known scientific and technical journals. Simple, comprehensive, and up-to-date, Scientific and Technical Acronyms, Symbols, and Abbreviations is a complete and vital reference for professionals in almost any scientific or technical discipline.
