Book excerpt: From the dawn of creation, the woman is a problem. The theology imputes to her the death sentence on mankind. For this, religions stigmatised her in everyday life. By the temptation of the woman, the man knew his fall and his expulsion from paradise. In various works we tried to analyze the regression of women status in monotheism versus paganism. We gathered under this title the main articles on the subject, despite their overlap.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The value of marriage is immeasurable because it is at the root of "family"-the basic unit of civilization. Producing strong families, therefore, is a major objective in bringing about the prophesied Eternal Kingdom of Peace. Allah, through the Bible and Holy Quran, has issued divine commands regarding marriage and divorce. As such, the Bible and Holy Quran show how the Messiah, after having been among the people for a lengthy period of time teaching the divine message of truth, is required to impose these divine commands on the people. This book explains this Reality. This book further describes, through the Bible and Holy Quran, the authority and responsibility that Allah has bestowed upon the Messiah. It shows the progressive nature of the Messiah's work in guiding humanity out of the darkness of false and injurious social concepts into the Divine Light of new ideals for proper human development and advancement. How does this bear on the importance of divine commands? Adherence to these mandates moves Allah's Chosen People, the Original People of the Western Hemisphere, further along in the Will and Plan of Allah. This book explains how the divine commands relating to marriage and divorce are essential in resolving many of the social problems plaguing both industrialized and underdeveloped nations. As it relates to the Messiah-the Honorable Louis Farrakhan, His polygamous marriage transcends the limitations established by municipal and state governments regarding marriage and divorce. Why is this? Allah, in the Person of Master Fard Muhammad, is the Orchestrator of His marriages, as affirmed throughout the Holy Quran. This, no doubt, is a point of significant contention for the Messiah's enemies, who have already characterized the Honorable Elijah Muhammad's polygamous marriage as illegitimate. This book shows, according to Sura 65 of the Holy Quran, that Allah's primary concern is whether the Messiah obeyed the divine ordinances in the Holy Quran that govern marriage and divorce, and not what HIS enemies believe, feel or assert regarding the Messiah's private life. This book explains the marriage and divorce processes described in the Holy Quran.

The Muslims are far removed from their own Koran. This book will show that there is not one thing the Muslim does everyday in the name of his religion which can be traced back to the Koran. The Muslims have become raving mobs and gargantuan failures in life because they have abandoned the Koran. And in the process the Muslims have also become rejectors. In Arabic the word for ‘rejector’ is ‘kafir’ i.e. one who opposes. The vast majority of Muslims are actually outside the pale of Islam.

Book excerpt: Thumb through any newspaper, listen to any newscast, and the terms "Islamic Al Jihad" or "Shi'ite Muslims" will inevitably be linked with bombings, hijackings, and other terrorist acts. What do you know about this religion that boasts "the greatest joy is to kill and be killed for Allah"? In Islam Revealed, Dr. Anis Shorrosh explains the driving force behind the fanatical, as well as the moderate and conservative sects of Islam. Drawing on his experience as a Palestinian-born Arab Christian and years of research and study, Dr. Shorrosh takes a hard look at an ever-growing religion that currently numbers 900 million members. Through comparisons of Islam's Quran and the Hebrew-Christian Bible, Dr. Shorrosh outlines the contradictions and inaccuracies that form the basis for the Muslims' beliefs, and contrasts the turbulent life of Muhammad with the life of Jesus. In light of recent terrorist activities in America and the continuing tensions in the Middle East, Islam Revealed is a timely reference to the belief system of one in five people on earth.

This book will tell Muslims that a Christology of the Koran is radically different from the Biblical Christology. An objective of the author is to faithfully or honestly reveal a true nature of the Bible and of the Koran that the people know the truth; and the truth will make them free and saved.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is based on the 1734 translation of the Koran by George Sale. This translation is in King James English, making comparisons between it and the King James Bible easily. This is a topical guide that will take a word or short phrase and find it in every verse of the Koran where it appears. These verses are placed together so that the reader can readily determine the context and, therefore, the meaning of the word or phrase. In some instances such as the word “jihad,” which does not appear in the Sale translation, it is traced in the University of Michigan’s online translation of the Koran. There it appears thirteen times, but in only two does it mean an internal struggle. In the other eleven, it means warfare. When analyzing words and phrases in the Koran, it is important to know when they were received and written. It is also important to know that the Koran includes material that seems to come from other sources. This has been outlined in volume 2 of the 1,300 Years’ War. As noted in volume 1 of the 1,300 Years’ War, Muhammad (PBUH) has been thought by many for over 150 years to have suffered from temporal lobe epilepsy associated with visual and auditory hallucinations. These seizures last less than three minutes. It is, therefore, important to know which suras might have come from a single episode. A table shows this in volume 1 (table 8). Many scholars divide the Koran into four major periods: early Mecca (AD 610–615), mid-Mecca (AD 616), late Mecca (AD 617–621) and Medina (AD 622–632). The analysis of the verses in these periods found that militancy against non-Muslims progresses: 7.7 percent of the verses from early Mecca are militant. This rises to 10.6 percent in the mid-Mecca period, and 18.3 percent in the late Mecca period. It tops out at 29.3 percent in the Medina period. The colored version of the topical guide shows these periods in black, blue, green, and red. In the black and white edition, it shows these four periods of the Koran in plain italics, boldface italics, regular plain type, and boldface regular type. The reason this division is important is the doctrine of abrogation (2:106) given early in the Medina period. This states that verses given later may nullify verses given earlier. Thus, many peaceful verses given in the early parts of the Koran may be nullified by the “verse of the sword” (9:5) given later toward the end of the prophet’s life: “Slay the idolaters wherever you find them.” So far as I have been able to determine, there has been no stylistic analysis of the Koran. A person studying the Koran or the history of Islam will find this work most valuable.

Book excerpt: From the author of A Midwife's Tale, winner of the Pulitzer Prize and the Bancroft Prize for History, and The Age of Homespun--a revelatory, nuanced, and deeply intimate look at the world of early Mormon women whose seemingly ordinary lives belied an astonishingly revolutionary spirit, drive, and determination. A stunning and sure-to-be controversial book that pieces together, through more than two dozen nineteenth-century diaries, letters, albums, minute-books, and quilts left by first-generation Latter-day Saints, or Mormons, the never-before-told story of the earliest days of the women of Mormon "plural marriage," whose right to vote in the state of Utah was given to them by a Mormon-dominated legislature as an outgrowth of polygamy in 1870, fifty years ahead of the vote nationally ratified by Congress, and who became political actors in spite of, or because of, their marital arrangements. Laurel Thatcher Ulrich, writing of this small group of Mormon women who've previously been seen as mere names and dates, has brilliantly reconstructed these textured, complex lives to give us a fulsome portrait of who these women were and of their "sex radicalism"--the idea that a woman should choose when and with whom to bear children.

Book excerpt: America’s leading religious scholar and public intellectual introduces lay readers to the Qur’an with a measured, powerful reading of the ancient text Garry Wills has spent a lifetime thinking and writing about Christianity. In What the Qur’an Meant, Wills invites readers to join him as he embarks on a timely and necessary reconsideration of the Qur’an, leading us through perplexing passages with insight and erudition. What does the Qur’an actually say about veiling women? Does it justify religious war? There was a time when ordinary Americans did not have to know much about Islam. That is no longer the case. We blundered into the longest war in our history without knowing basic facts about the Islamic civilization with which we were dealing. We are constantly fed false information about Islam—claims that it is essentially a religion of violence, that its sacred book is a handbook for terrorists. There is no way to assess these claims unless we have at least some knowledge of the Qur’an. In this book Wills, as a non-Muslim with an open mind, reads the Qur’an with sympathy but with rigor, trying to discover why other non-Muslims—such as Pope Francis—find it an inspiring book, worthy to guide people down through the centuries. There are many traditions that add to and distort and blunt the actual words of the text. What Wills does resembles the work of art restorers who clean away accumulated layers of dust to find the original meaning. He compares the Qur’an with other sacred books, the Old Testament and the New Testament, to show many parallels between them. There are also parallel difficulties of interpretation, which call for patient exploration—and which offer some thrills of discovery. What the Qur’an Meant is the opening of a conversation on one of the world’s most practiced religions.
