Aber auch unkonventionelle Mittel der politischen Anteilnahme bieten für einige Menschen Anreiz, sich in das politische Geschehen zu integrieren. Die Frage ist, wie sich die politische Partizipation in Deutschland seit der Wiedervereinigung 1990 verändert hat. Ein guter Indikator für die Teilnahme an institutionalisierten und konventionellen Formen ist mit Sicherheit die Bundestagswahl, da sie wohl das medienpräsenteste Mittel der politischen Mitgestaltung ist. Aber auch unkonventionelle Formen und weniger institutionalisierte Formen wie Demonstrationen oder auch Streiks werden von der deutschen Bevölkerung genutzt, um sich in die Politik zu integrieren.
