Download or read book Wavelet Methods for Pointwise Regularity and Local Oscillations of Functions written by Stéphane Jaffard and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1996 with total page 127 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We investigate several topics related to the local behavior of functions: pointwise Hölder regularity, local scaling invariance and very oscillatory "chirp-like" behaviors. Our main tool is to relate these notions to two-microlocal conditions which are defined either on the Littlewood-Paley decomposition or on the wavelet transform. We give characterizations and the main properties of these two-microlocal spaces and we give several applications, such as bounds on the dimension of the set of Hölder singularities of a function, Sobolev regularity of trace functions, and chirp expansions of specific functions.

Book Synopsis On the Local Behaviour of Solutions of Degenerate Parabolic Equations with Measurable Coefficients by : E. DiBenedetto
Download or read book On the Local Behaviour of Solutions of Degenerate Parabolic Equations with Measurable Coefficients written by E. DiBenedetto and published by . This book was released on 1984 with total page 83 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Locally bounded weak solutions of degenerate parabolic equations are proven to be locally hoelder continuous. Hoelder estimates are also derived up to the boundary for both Dirichlet data and (non-linear) variational data. Via a counterexample it is shown that non-negative solutions, in general, do not satisfy the parabolic version of the Harnack inequality.

This book was released on 2019-06-17 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book studies the existence and uniqueness of solutions to parabolic-type equations with irregular coefficients and/or initial conditions. It elaborates on the DiPerna-Lions theory of renormalized solutions to linear transport equations and related equations, and also examines the connection between the results on the partial differential equation and the well-posedness of the underlying stochastic/ordinary differential equation.

This book was released on 2018-11-05 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Strongly coupled (or cross-diffusion) systems of parabolic and elliptic partial differential equations appear in many physical applications. This book presents a new approach to the solvability of general strongly coupled systems, a much more difficult problem in contrast to the scalar case, by unifying, elucidating and extending breakthrough results obtained by the author, and providing solutions to many open fundamental questions in the theory. Several examples in mathematical biology and ecology are also included. Contents Interpolation Gagliardo–Nirenberg inequalities The parabolic systems The elliptic systems Cross-diffusion systems of porous media type Nontrivial steady-state solutions The duality RBMO(μ)–H1(μ)| Some algebraic inequalities Partial regularity

Download or read book Parabolic Equations on an Infinite Strip written by Watson and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-10-02 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on solutions of second order, linear, parabolic, partial differentialequations on an infinite strip-emphasizing their integral representation, their initialvalues in several senses, and the relations between these.Parabolic Equations on an Infinite Strip provides valuable information-previously unavailable in a single volume-on such topics as semigroup property.. . the Cauchy problem ... Gauss-Weierstrass representation . .. initial limits .. .normal limits and related representation theorems ... hyperplane conditions .. .determination of the initial measure .. . and the maximum principle. It also exploresnew, unpublished results on parabolic limits . . . more general limits ... and solutionssatisfying LP conditions.Requiring only a fundamental knowledge of general analysis and measure theory, thisbook serves as an excellent text for graduate students studying partial differentialequations and harmonic analysis, as well as a useful reference for analysts interested inapplied measure theory, and specialists in partial differential equations.
