This book is not a theology, history, or scientific study of beauty. This book is not an overview of art with biblical themes, a study of ancient poetry, or an analysis of art in biblical writings. This is a book about why Wilma Zalabak loves reading the Bible, with the intent to invite you to love it, too. What does finding this beauty in the Bible do for her? It is beauty which lifts her spirits, gives her reason to live, opens her mind to big ideas, and aligns her with God's own love of beauty.

Whether they serve as simple points of focus or building blocks for complex patterns, these elements present countless possibilities when combined with purpose and principles like contrast, balance, rhythm, and white space. Going back to basics, DOT, LINE, SHAPE is a comprehensive collection of projects that manifest the three elements in inspiring and ingenious ways to bring unique creative visions to life. No matter how trends or platforms change over time, they serve as timeless components that provide designers and artists around the world with infinite means of expression to make a lasting impact.
Book Synopsis Point, Dot, Period… The Dynamics of Punctuation in Text and Image by : Laurence Petit
Download or read book Point, Dot, Period… The Dynamics of Punctuation in Text and Image written by Laurence Petit and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2016-04-26 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Point, Dot, Period… The Dynamics of Punctuation in Text and Image is a collection of twelve previously unpublished essays which explore the fundamental role played by punctuation in the two semiotic fields of text and image. Whilst drawing upon a wide range of material, including painting, engraving, photography, video art, poetry, fiction, and journalism, each essay contributes to the exploration of singular uses of punctuation which highlight the complexity of what remains in all cases a silent, and yet particularly eloquent, mode of expression. By bringing together authors from a variety of fields, such as linguistics, literary studies, and art criticism, at a time when the relation between text and image occupies a prominent place in the critical landscape, this volume offers new insights into the possibility and nature of their encounter, and invites the reader to focus on the material aspect of visual and textual creation. This collection also offers an original approach to the works of some major artists and canonical authors, whilst simultaneously making room for emerging talents.

Book Synopsis Dynamics of Quantum Dot Lasers by : Christian Otto
Download or read book Dynamics of Quantum Dot Lasers written by Christian Otto and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2014-01-21 with total page 301 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis deals with the dynamics of state-of-the-art nanophotonic semiconductor structures, providing essential information on fundamental aspects of nonlinear dynamical systems on the one hand, and technological applications in modern telecommunication on the other. Three different complex laser structures are considered in detail: (i) a quantum-dot-based semiconductor laser under optical injection from a master laser, (ii) a quantum-dot laser with optical feedback from an external resonator, and (iii) a passively mode-locked quantum-well semiconductor laser with saturable absorber under optical feedback from an external resonator. Using a broad spectrum of methods, both numerical and analytical, this work achieves new fundamental insights into the interplay of microscopically based nonlinear laser dynamics and optical perturbations by delayed feedback and injection.

Book Synopsis Infinity: A Very Short Introduction by : Ian Stewart
Download or read book Infinity: A Very Short Introduction written by Ian Stewart and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2017-03-13 with total page 171 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Infinity is an intriguing topic, with connections to religion, philosophy, metaphysics, logic, and physics as well as mathematics. Its history goes back to ancient times, with especially important contributions from Euclid, Aristotle, Eudoxus, and Archimedes. The infinitely large (infinite) is intimately related to the infinitely small (infinitesimal). Cosmologists consider sweeping questions about whether space and time are infinite. Philosophers and mathematicians ranging from Zeno to Russell have posed numerous paradoxes about infinity and infinitesimals. Many vital areas of mathematics rest upon some version of infinity. The most obvious, and the first context in which major new techniques depended on formulating infinite processes, is calculus. But there are many others, for example Fourier analysis and fractals. In this Very Short Introduction, Ian Stewart discusses infinity in mathematics while also drawing in the various other aspects of infinity and explaining some of the major problems and insights arising from this concept. He argues that working with infinity is not just an abstract, intellectual exercise but that it is instead a concept with important practical everyday applications, and considers how mathematicians use infinity and infinitesimals to answer questions or supply techniques that do not appear to involve the infinite. ABOUT THE SERIES: The Very Short Introductions series from Oxford University Press contains hundreds of titles in almost every subject area. These pocket-sized books are the perfect way to get ahead in a new subject quickly. Our expert authors combine facts, analysis, perspective, new ideas, and enthusiasm to make interesting and challenging topics highly readable.
