Book excerpt: I started writing poetry when I was seventeen years old; I found out that when you put your thoughts into words sometimes magic happens. I'm not talking about genies popping out of a bottle or anything like that, but in how I see things clearer and how beautiful this world truly is. I found out later in life how much easier it was to find a date in high school. I used to try and talk to girls and found out sometimes I'd get a little gun shy and pass up my chance. Then one day, I wrote a poem for this girl I had my eye on. I walked up to her and handed her the poem and then walked away. Later she approached me and we went out on a date. I found the magic potion to breaking the ice (so to speak) was a piece of paper and a writing pen. I learned how to put my thoughts down on a piece of paper, which later I put into a blank book that I would write my poems in. After I was told by at least fifty or so people that I should share these poems to others, I sat down and sorted out the poems I thought could touch your heart the best. I hope my poems are inspirational enough to help you create your own book.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE LANGUAGE OF THE HEART: Love Poems and Passions The feeling of love respects no boundary of expression in a heart-to-heart intimacy between two souls. Love is love no matter how long or short its sojourn in the life of a person, no matter how deep or shallow its degree, or no matter how wide or narrow the space it occupies in one's heart. Truly, love is love no matter how it is expressed in different passions: sharing, caring, giving, receiving, laughing, hurting, leaving, pleading, crying, forgiving, or even losing and getting it back again and again. Love never changes its effects and color - the happiness and contentment in the heart and soul of its beholder. THE LANGUAGE OF THE HEART: Love Poems and Passions is a genuine expression of the feelings that have occurred or are presently occurring in the author's heart. Who can argue those feelings? Surely nobody can, except the creator himself of those beautiful and soul-guided verses which originated directly from the center of his heart. Many of the poems included in the book have been published in various magazines and school papers, as well as cited a number of times The Editor's Choice Award of the International Library of Poetry. The book exemplifies the unique and vicarious expression of the author's artistic interest and unique passion in poetic artistry. The poems are rich in interweaving figures of speech and in the use of descriptive words and phrases that turn abstract insights and emotions into concrete thoughts and feelings. GEORGE ERGO ESPINOSA, EdD

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Alice was a caregiver for both of her grandparents and shortly after assumed primary care of her parents. It took a toll on her when they passed away. Overwhelmed with the grief from these consecutive painful life events she witnessed firsthand, poetry gave her freedom. The Beauty of My Heart is proof that Alice has used poetry as a medium to start over and take control of her life. This collection is carefully curated; Each page gives the reader a deeper look into her intimate thoughts and real life experiences. It examines relatable topics such as love and relationships, motherhood and caregiving and spiritual growth through faith in a higher power. In Poetic Words of a Poet, she vividly details her writing process: "The poetic words of a poet are filled with grace. They flow with rhythm, like a dance performed in pace. The words of a poet are elegant as they overflow with charm. The words are delightful and enchanting, also precise in their tone. The expressions fashioned by a poet are stylish yet uniquely tasteful in pitch. The words of a poet are explicit and sometimes misconstrued. But the words of a poet are truly from the heart, filled with zeal and occasionally laced with a little rage. The poetic words of a poet linger, while they flow with simplicity." By the grace of God, Alice was able to overcome a difficult time in her life. Through this beautiful collection of poems, she courageously shares her story. Be touched and entertained...become inspired and empowered by The Beauty of my Heart by Alice Manuel.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A powerful debut by Indigenous performance poet and spoken word artist, Janet Marie Rogers, Splitting the Heart throbs with the vitality of a Native drum and wails with a warrior's wisdom. Both Mohawk warrior and west coast woman, Roger's poems speak of personal and cultural identity, the trials of her people, loss and death - balanced by exquisite love poems, transcendent in their earthiness. She addresses the limitations of written history, the illusion of borders and the abuses suffered by the Native peoples, even those self-inflicted. Created as spoken word performance pieces, these poems more than hold their own when committed to print and come alive in an accompanying audio CD. Janet Marie Rogers is a multi-media artist with a way with words and a great deal to say on matters of deep importance. Splitting the Heart is a landmark volume of Canadian poetry. It's time has come! A Mohawk writer from the Six Nations territory in southern Ontario, Janet Marie Rogers was born in Vancouver and now lives in Victoria, B.C. Originally a visual artist, Rogers later channeled her creative energy into writing, exploring poetry, drama, fiction and fantasy. She is known as a dynamic spoken word artist and performer. Splitting the Heart is her first book.
