PITUS PESTON AND THE GODS OF OMAN is about a dreamer of cosmic adventure who turned his dreams into reality. He was born into an unlikely time for space fl ight. When Thomas Jefferson was President the frontier was still east of Buffalo. The only way to reach this distant land was afoot or by horse. But there were other worlds whose time lines of development were not like our own. On some of these worlds the present state of Earth was in their dim past. About the time of the Mayfl ower, three travelers, exiles from the planet Oman, a world on the opposite spiral arm of Caleeron, their name for the Milky Way, crash land their craft atop a butte in what later became Monument Valley. They were unable to leave Earth and dispersed among humanity to live out their lives. The year is now 1805, and Pitus Peston, an eighteen year old farmer's son endowed with a linguistic genius, discovers an old wampum belt bearing a strange image. It stirs his soul and he believes that the image on the belt is otherworldly and he determines to uncover its secret. Through an accumulation of clues he works his way toward solving the secret of the gods of Oman.
