Book Synopsis Raising Venture Capital Finance in Europe by : Keith Arundale
Download or read book Raising Venture Capital Finance in Europe written by Keith Arundale and published by Kogan Page Publishers. This book was released on 2007-04-03 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: European private equity investment reached €47 billion in 2005, up 27% from 2004. Funds raised for private equity were €72 billion, up 250% on the previous year, both figures being all time highs. Raising Venture Capital Finance in Europe provides business owners, entrepreneurs and investors alike with a step-by-step approach to exploiting this market and funding new projects effectively. Written by Keith Arundale, an advisor and commentator on the European and US VC and private equity industry for over 20 years, the guide blends business experience with practical approaches to enable the reader to maximize the opportunities available. The book includes a series of real-life case studies from venture capitalists and entrepreneurs from around Europe, each with practical tips for successful venture capital finance raising. With forewords from Sir Paul Judge (Chairman, Enterprise Education Trust) and Patrick Sheehan (Chairman, Venture Capital Committee, European Private Equity and Venture Capital Association) the book begins with a brief introduction to the field, including an analysis of current trends and issues in the industry, and goes on to provide a detailed framework for an objective assessment of each business opportunity. The book looks at sources of finance and private equity, shows how to write a successful business plan, details the entire investment process, and considers the tax and legal issues involved. A particular feature of the book is that it looks at the topic from both sides - showing what the venture capitalist is looking for as well as detailing how an entrepreneur or business owner can make proposals attractive to those investors This means that the reader will be able to minimize time wasted on unnecessary activities and therefore develop investment approaches which are succinct, relevant, and give every chance of success.
Book Synopsis Imposing Order without Law by : Michael J. Makley
Download or read book Imposing Order without Law written by Michael J. Makley and published by University of Nevada Press. This book was released on 2022-12-06 with total page 221 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the 1850s, early Euro-American settlers established two remote outposts on the slopes of the eastern Sierra Nevada, both important way stations on the central emigrant trail. The Carson Valley settlement was located on the western edge of the Utah Territory, while the Honey Lake Valley hamlet, 120 miles north, fell within California’s boundaries but was separated from the rest of the state by the formidable mountain range. Although these were some of the first white communities established in the region, both areas had long been inhabited by Indigenous Americans. Carson Valley had been part of Washoe Indian territory, and Honey Lake Valley was a section of Northern Paiute land. Michael Makley explores the complexities of this turbulent era, when the pioneers’ actions set the stage for both valleys to become part of national incorporation. With deft writing and meticulously researched portrayals of the individuals involved, including the Washoe and Northern Paiute peoples, Imposing Order Without Law focuses on the haphazard evolution of “frontier justice” in these remote outposts. White settlers often brought with them their own ideas of civil order. Makley’s work contextualizes the extralegal acts undertaken by the settlers to enforce edicts in their attempt to establish American communities. Makley’s book reveals the use and impact of group violence, both within the settlements and within the Indigenous peoples’ world, where it transformed their lives.

Book Synopsis Angels and Spirits by : Dr. John Thomas Wylie
Download or read book Angels and Spirits written by Dr. John Thomas Wylie and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2019-02-01 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this publication, Angels and Spirits, the scripture teaches that there is an order of intelligences higher than that of men and further asserts that these intelligences are connected with man in providence and in the redemptive economy. These intelligences are called spirits to denote their specific role and nature; they are called angels to denote their mission. We will investigate their involvement with mankind and their tasks. Nothing can be known of them other than that which is revealed in the scriptures. They are created spirits, but the time of their creation is not indicated. Many biblical scholars hold that such a creation must have been included in the statement found in Genesis 1:1 and therefore preceding the six days’ formative period. The highest exercise of angels is to wait upon God. Their chief duty is to minister to the heirs of salvation. As we embark upon this reading, my hope is that you will come to take seriously the informative topics presented to you. We do not intend to dwell on Satan or his angels too much (only as necessary) but focus on the deeds and tasks of holy angels. —Reverend Dr. John Thomas Wylie
