Book excerpt: Sibyl Robinson hears the evening news that Quebec's Lagado government has called a referendum it hopes will separate the French province from Canada. Upset by the announcement the unilingual anglophone leaves her flat on Cumae street and walks her dog Trio through Montreal's Little Burgundy district down to the Lachine Canal. On the way home she discovers the slain body a black youth in a school yard near her flat. Packets of cocaine are found in the boy's pockets and police assume the killing to be drug related. Sibyl's concern over the murder of 'one of her people' leads her to a friend of the slain youth and the two set out to find the killer. Their unusual investigation leads to officer Jean-Luc Turcotte as the culprit. He has been stealing confiscated cocaine from a police lock-up and soliciting black neighborhood youths to deliver the drugs to his selected customers. Detective lieutenant Marc Kelly is assigned to the case and Jean-Luc is eventually charged with the youth's murder. Sibyl who becomes a chief witness for the defense breaks with her son Mark when he decides to defend the white officer. A rather bizarre trial ensues and Jean-Luc is acquitted.

Then it came to pass that a storm descended upon your dream. Dark clouds hovered and lightning flashed. Arguments brewed, but the storm settled and soon the sun came out and your heart was safe. He showed you he cared and that he would be your hero even in the storms. Other storms came, but you survived together. One day in the midst of a storm, he turned to you and broke his promises. He walked the plank, dove into the ocean, and swam away from your sinking ship. All hope for love vanished, and you were left alone in the dark. Your heart was that beleaguered ship, and you watched as it sank beneath the merciless seas. Heartbreak. It’s a challenge we almost all face at some point in our lives. Despite it being one of the most devastating and pivotal events a person can endure, though, it is far from hopeless. Whether you’re going through heartbreak right now or are unable to move past it, this book is a guide to your healing process. Its unique perspective offers personal and scientific insight into relationships. You can heal, grow, and move forward in your life and relationships with renewed confidence. The question is, will you take the first step?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Part workbook, part self-help guide, part Bible study, this handbook is geared toward those who experience big feelings and could use some support navigating the challenges that come with this territory. . . . Overwhelmed teens can find validation in this faith-based guide.” —Kirkus Reviews No one knows about having all the feels quite like teenage girls—but few girls know what to do with all those feelings. They can flit from giddy to anxious to insecure to in love—oops, wait, just kidding, out of love—to chill to stressed to ecstatic to despairing to rebellious to penitent to cynical to naïve to independent to clingy to selfish to selfless, all with a heaping side order of angst and adorkability, all in a span of hours . . . sometimes minutes. In other words: all the feels all the time. Christian teens need Bible-based help to show them that it’s okay to feel deeply (after all, God himself is the Author of all feelings), but each of us must learn to train our emotions in the ways of Christ. As they learn how to deal with all the feels, girls need scriptural foundations, practical strategies, and the assurance that they are not weird—and never alone. Includes: Quizzes and interactive charts Journal questions Prayer prompts Scripture lists for different needs Discussion starters for mothers and daughters or mentors and mentees looking to learn together All the Feels for Teens pairs great with All the Feels, a book designed for adult women.
