Download or read book Polymers in Confined Environments written by Steve Granick and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-07-01 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The rapidly-developing field of confined polymers is reviewed in this volume. Special emphasis is given to polymer aspects of this interdisciplinary problem. Taken together, the contributions offer ample evidence of how the field of polymer science continues to evolve with the passage of time. The topics revolve around the tendency of surfaces to impede chain relaxation and to stimulate new sorts of chain organization. These have been implicated in a variety of spectacular phenomena. Book Synopsis The Road to Discovery by : Michael Chukwudi
Download or read book The Road to Discovery written by Michael Chukwudi and published by Phoenix Voices Publishing. This book was released on 2024-10-23 with total page 341 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Road To Discovery is a story about a contemporary woman's life in Africa. It is a story of love, culture, education, disease, equality, and discovery. It is a mind-boggling look at the life of a barren woman in Amagwu-nze in Enugu State-how she suffered humiliations but later gave birth to a female child. The worth of a child born in Africa still received a shrug of indifference owing to the absence or presence of a male organ. The female children were of no significance in their land of birth. Anulika had a dream of changing the notion. She lost her parents at a very tender age and that trapped her in a snare she did not believe. She was later taken to Enugu City after enduring much suffering in the village. She thought life in the city would be better but it turned out the other way around. The road was tough but she never gave up. Luck fell on her when she met Dr. Ajuluchukwu, the Principal of Divine Love Secondary School, Trans-Ekuluwhile hawking in the street. She has always supported girl-child education. She took her home and gave her a new story. She later studied Applied Biology at Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, got her Master’s in the same school and proceeded to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka for her Ph.D. Even with the wealth of knowledge, she had she could not boast of a good Job in Nigeria. An endemic disease crept into the world and Government called on all scientists to research the cure for the disease that killed in seconds and it was airborne. This paragon of intelligence tagged her Journey “THE ROAD TO DISCOVERY,'' But the question is, did she abandon her quest because it was tough? Savour this palatable dish.

Book Synopsis Nanotechnology in Australia by : Deborah M. Kane
Download or read book Nanotechnology in Australia written by Deborah M. Kane and published by Pan Stanford Publishing. This book was released on 2011-07-11 with total page 463 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book reports current nanotechnology research from Australia, in addition to being the first trial of a new workshop program for the professional development of early career researchers (ECRs, including research students). It showcases the professional talents and high-quality writing of ECRs and also describes the workshop program, organized under the auspices of the Australian Research Council Nanotechnology Network, designed to facilitate this. The nanotechnology research topics include plasmonics, the building blocks of plasmonic circuits; the use of metal nanoparticles to improve infrared light trapping in solar cell applications; methods for the bulk synthesis of graphene; synthesis of nanorods of vanadium compounds for energy storage; nanodiamonds, superparamagnetic nanoparticles and synthesis of hollow nanostructured silica, along with a discussion of their applications; molecular dynamics modelling of self-cleaning coatings; metal nanostructure-enhanced fluorescence and its biological applications; luminescent nano-bioprobes for bioassays and bioimaging; biomimicry leading to olfactory nano-biosensors; and superparamagnetic nanoparticles as MRI contrast agents.
Book Synopsis Handbook of Nuclear Physics by : Isao Tanihata
Download or read book Handbook of Nuclear Physics written by Isao Tanihata and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-09-04 with total page 4180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook is a comprehensive, systematic source of modern nuclear physics. It aims to summarize experimental and theoretical discoveries and an understanding of unstable nuclei and their exotic structures, which were opened up by the development of radioactive ion (RI) beam in the late 1980s. The handbook comprises three major parts. In the first part, the experiments and measured facts are well organized and reviewed. The second part summarizes recognized theories to explain the experimental facts introduced in the first part. Reflecting recent synergistic progress involving both experiment and theory, the chapters both parts are mutually related. The last part focuses on cosmo-nuclear physics—one of the mainstream subjects in modern nuclear physics. Those comprehensive topics are presented concisely. Supported by introductory reviews, all chapters are designed to present their topics in a manner accessible to readers at the graduate level. The book therefore serves as a valuable source for beginners as well, helping them to learn modern nuclear physics.
