Book excerpt: Renowned for its natural wealth since ancient times, the southern Thai island of Phuket has acquired a new kind of international celebrity in more recent days as a place of rest and relaxation for over a million foreign visitors a year. Situated off the western coast of the Malay Peninsula, Phuket has seductive landscapes, unique cultural experiences and a variety of natural color. Sun-drenched, white-sand beaches of uncommon beauty are strung like jewels along the coast bordering the Andaman Sea, while numerous other attractions within easy reach on offshore islands and the mainland provide alluring variety. Phuket: Pearl of the Orient celebrates the beauty of this lovely Thai island and shows readers why it continues to enchant and beguile all who visit. Noted photographers Bill Wassman and Alberto Cassio capture this magical atmosphere in pictures, while William Warren’s text explores both Phuket’s eventful past and its present development as one of Asia’s most popular holiday destinations.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Strewn underneath the photos are eight pieces of torn crumpled paper of a light green color with black marker scribbles in a clear zip bag. "This is really weird," Suray says to herself. She needs to piece up the papers together in order to read the torn scribbles. Those crumpled pieces need to be unraveled and smoothed out by one. The patching up of the pieces is time consuming. She has to get up to her room to find cellophane tape. Eventually the patched up pieces bear these wordings: Meet me near the bridge. If we were really destined to meet. I'll be by the river. Well, well, well....what is that supposed to mean? It feels frustratingly crappy. Where on earth could the bridge be? On top of all that, there are so many rivers in the world. Who wrote this in the first place? It didn't seem like a recognizable handwriting to Suray. Why did the mysterious writer tear the paper into pieces yet keep it in a trunk like a cherished possession. Everything just doesn't make sense. The writer tore the paper to some pieces as if to diminish a secret yet decide not to eliminate it? To whom actually the message on the torn paper is intended? If the writer is her father, it is too late to pursue any possible meet up because he's dead. Perished in the fire by the river of Siam was as told by his uncle Razief, who happens to be her father's twin brother. In silence, she couldn't help feeling and thinking that there is a tiny weeny ounce of possibility that her father is somehow still roaming the Earth.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today, it is considered good business practice for tourism industries to support their micro and macro environment by means of strategic perspectives. This is necessary because we cannot contemplate companies existing without their environment. If companies do not involve themselves in such undertakings, they are in danger of isolating themselves from the shareholder. That, in turn, creates a problem for mobilizing new ideas and receiving feedback from their environment. In this respect, the contributions of academics from international level together with the private sector and business managers are eagerly awaited on topics and sub-topics within Strategies for Tourism Industry - Micro and Macro Perspectives.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ESSENCE of an IDEALIST ESSENCE, From the French word, esse, to be. To exist. If we exist we have essence. When we exist we have choices to make from the very moment we recognize our own existence. This book is about a person who chose to be an idealist, a person who set goals for himself at a very early age and achieved most of them without the need for money. Do not think it is easy to be an idealist? Certainly not in my case, those around you continually remind you to be more practical and advise you, that your goals are neither realistic nor pragmatic. Do idealists fail? Of course they do and some quit to blend in with everyone else. Others recognize their own failure, change direction and try again, and again until they succeed. This book is true account of the authors quest to find his purpose in life. A quest that contains so many failures and so many successes that one questions the trials of an idealist. We tend to categorize idealists as crazy Don Quixote types, charging at windmills to protect the chastity of his Dulcinea. When in fact, the true romantic recognizes, that both author, Cervantes and Don Quixote, appearing as an old chivalrous knight in rusty armor truly understood the power of love. The idealist in this true story seeks adventure at a very early age and even though he finds it, he never stops seeking more challenging adventures. The same is true for success. Success so often is measured in dollars as so aptly put in Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. By mid-life this author has become a millionaire and questions the materialistic rewards of success. He concludes that the accumulation of dollars and materialism are not the answer to happiness, for that which you own, owns you. Should success then be re-defined.? Perhaps. Success could be defined as happiness and only the happiness, within you. If you are truly happy, you are successful. This quest contains both successes and failures to find a purpose in life. Im writing this while maturing in age and knowledge, and if my life ends tomorrow it shall be said by my friends that I sought adventure, success, happiness and love and you can judge for yourself whether or not I found it.
