Experiment and Theory written by Elise Kochanski and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1992 with total page 466 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main emphasis in this book is on the photoprocesses of transition metal complexes and biosystems, but not to the exclusion of other photoprocesses. The book will thus be useful to a wide range of researchers. Beginning with a basic introduction to photophysics, quantum chemistry, and the spectroscopic techniques used for the study of organometallic intermediates and biliproteins, the book goes on to discuss the photochemistry of organometallics, special attention being paid to the photochemistry of metalbonded carbonyls and polynuclear systems in supramolecular photochemistry. After moving to a discussion of large systems, the book then developes some aspects of the photophysics of biosystems, before closing with a discussion of artificial photosynthetic model systems.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Providing critical analysis of emerging and well-established topics, this book is essential reading for anyone wanting to keep up to date with the literature on photochemistry and its applications. Volume 49 combines reviews on the latest advances in photochemical research with specific highlights in the field. The first section includes periodical reports of the recent literature on physical and inorganic aspects, including reviews of the molecules employed as dyes in art, light induced reactions in cryogenic matrices, photobiological systems studied by time-resolved infrared spectroscopy and photophysics, and photochemistry of transition metal complexes. This selection is completed by reviews of the literature on solar photocatalysis for water decontamination and disinfection and for water splitting/hydrogen production. Coverage continues in the second part with highlighted topics, from the use of aromatic carbonyls as photocatalysts and photoinitiators in synthesis, photoinduced and photocatalysed decarboxylation reactions, development of dye-sensitized solar cells, design of luminescent water-soluble systems, and applications of plasmonic nanoparticles. This volume also includes a third section entitled ‘SPR Lectures on Photochemistry’, where leading scientists in photochemistry provide examples to introduce a photochemical topic to academic readers, offering precious assistance to students in this field.
Book Synopsis Molecular Conformation and Organic Photochemistry by : Rasmus Y. Brogaard
Download or read book Molecular Conformation and Organic Photochemistry written by Rasmus Y. Brogaard and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-05-17 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rasmus Brogaard's thesis digs into the fundamental issue of how the shape of a molecule relates to its photochemical reactivity. This relation is drastically different from that of ground-state chemistry, since lifetimes of excited states are often comparable to or even shorter than the time scales of conformational changes. Combining theoretical and experimental efforts in femto-second time-resolved photoionization Rasmus Brogaard finds that a requirement for an efficient photochemical reaction is the prearrangement of the constituents in a reactive conformation. Furthermore, he is able to show that by exploiting a strong ionic interaction between two chromophores, a coherent molecular motion can be induced and probed in real-time. This way of using bichromophoric interactions provides a promising strategy for future research on conformational dynamics.
