It's important for students to take the PERT seriously (even though it isn't graded) to ensure they are placed in the most appropriate classes. The PERT is scored by section in a range of 50 - 150, with "cut scores" throughout (so students will get three different scores). There are three or four tiers (depending on the section) of cut scores to determine what level students are currently at.
