Book Synopsis Creep and High Temperature Deformation of Metals and Alloys by : Stefano Spigarelli
Download or read book Creep and High Temperature Deformation of Metals and Alloys written by Stefano Spigarelli and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2019-12-12 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By the late 1940s, and since then, the continuous development of dislocation theories have provided the basis for correlating the macroscopic time-dependent deformation of metals and alloys—known as creep—to the time-dependent processes taking place within the metals and alloys. High-temperature deformation and stress relaxation effects have also been explained and modeled on similar bases. The knowledge of high-temperature deformation as well as its modeling in conventional or unconventional situations is becoming clearer year by year, with new contemporary and better performing high-temperature materials being constantly produced and investigated. This book includes recent contributions covering relevant topics and materials in the field in an innovative way. In the first section, contributions are related to the general description of creep deformation, damage, and ductility, while in the second section, innovative testing techniques of creep deformation are presented. The third section deals with creep in the presence of complex loading/temperature changes and environmental effects, while the last section focuses on material microstructure–creep correlations for specific material classes. The quality and potential of specific materials and microstructures, testing conditions, and modeling as addressed by specific contributions will surely inspire scientists and technicians in their own innovative approaches and studies on creep and high-temperature deformation.

Book Synopsis Bloodlines ... Pedigree & Progeny by : Robert A. Hilliard
Download or read book Bloodlines ... Pedigree & Progeny written by Robert A. Hilliard and published by Outskirts Press. This book was released on 2023-06-30 with total page 1010 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A young man determined to avenge his mother’s sexual assault by a powerful politician. The scions of two wealthy thoroughbred racing families, each trying to make his own mark in the world. A German family driven – and torn apart – by deeply held secrets. Bloodlines explores how our pasts and pedigrees can have unexpected impacts on our futures and progeny. Using as backdrop thoroughbred racing, breeding and betting parlors; bourbon distilleries; the arcane business of powder metal manufacturing, and the world’s “beautiful game” of soccer, author Rob Hilliard takes readers from post-World War II Germany to 1980s Kentucky and Virginia … from the U.S., Canada and the U.K. to Ireland, the European Continent and Israel … from the early years of the Civil Rights movement to the fall of the Berlin Wall. How these disparate worlds, locations and individuals become entwined over decades drives this sweeping story of corporate intrigue, international drama and, most of all, the family ties that bind them.
Book Synopsis Characterization of Metals and Alloys by : Paul Holloway
Download or read book Characterization of Metals and Alloys written by Paul Holloway and published by Momentum Press. This book was released on 2010 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A better understanding of the microstructure of metals and alloys has led to great advances in the performance and useful applications of these, the oldest of mankind's engineered materials. This book in the Materials Characterizations series focuses on the particular molecular and atomistic properties of metals insofar as how they affect the different techniques for measuring and analyzing internal structure, surface structure, and chemical/physical properties. It provides a vital connection between commonly used characterization techniques like Scanning Electron Microscopy and how such can be used in the various ways that metals are processed, machined, and used. Review of relevant mechanical and chemical properties of metals and how they affect characterization techniques Characterization techniques used for melting and casting, machining, and metallic thin films processes Concise summaries of major characterization technologies for metals and alloys, including Auger Electron Spectroscopy, Energy-Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy, Neutron Activation Analysis, Scanning Electron Microscopy, and Transmission Electron Spectroscopy
