Intended for use in personal study or in small groups, this six-session companion study guide to the Parental Guidance Required DVD is a practical resource that will encourage you to look at the relationships in your children’s lives and ask the important questions: Am I developing a quality relationship with my child that will go the distance? Am I striving to control the influence that friends have in my child’s life? Am I nurturing a healthy eternal perspective that will help my child to weather the storms of life? Asking the right questions is the key to helping you assess your family needs and ensure that the influence you have is one that will last a lifetime. Story Behind the Book In an effort to focus Multnomah’s mission to equip the church and to make the "bride" more beautiful, the company developed a relationship with Andy Stanley and North Point Community Church to publish a selection of the church’s resources and distribute them to a broader market. North Point is one of the most influential churches in the nation, and their teaching is already highly sought after. They have a voice for the 20- to 30-something generation. Reaching the church is a strategic goal of Multnomah, and we realize that the emerging generation needs resources that deliver truth in fresh, new ways. Andy’s leadership will keep North Point on the edge for a long time to come.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "A fantastically fun, HOT love story." - Kendall Ryan, New York Times bestselling author All I want is to play hockey on the Ice Knights, instead, I’m in a viral video for all the wrong reasons and my mom—yes, my mom—has taken over my dating apps. Then, when I think it can’t get any worse, the fates deliver Zara Ambrose, a five-feet-nothing redhead with more freckles than inches and who’d rather be anywhere other than on a date with me. Now a bet with her friends and my PR nightmare have us both stuck in this go-on-five-dates-with-the-same-person hell situation. But if we band together, we can get the whole thing over with and go on with our lives. It’s perfect! No feelings. No future. No fuc— *ahem* fun. No naked fun. What could go wrong? Nothing—as long as I remember the rules. Don’t notice the way she looks in a dress. Don’t react when she does that little shivery sigh thing whenever we touch. Don’t think about the fact that she’s never had a toe-curling orgasm that wasn’t self-delivered and just how badly I want to change that. Five dates—that’s it—and then we go our separate ways. At least, that was the plan... Each book in the Ice Knights series is STANDALONE: * Parental Guidance * Awk-Weird * Loud Mouth

Download or read book Goodness of Fit written by Stella Chess and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-10-28 with total page 247 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stella Chess and Alexander Thomas' new book illuminates one of the most significant theoretical and practical implications in professional publications on temperament today: the concept of goodness of fit. When individuals achieve accordance with the properties and expectations of their respective environments, they have attained goodness of fit, which ultimately enables their psychological growth and health. They can function on a healthy level with a potential for a positive life course. Beginning with a clear definition and explanation of the concept of goodness of fit, the book goes on to delineate the evolution of the goodness of fit concept, its clinical applications, and the biopsychosocial elements relevant to the goodness of fit model. The authors provide insightful step-by-step commentaries on individual case histories that concern such problems. Each case is unique and intriguing, and is reviewed by the authors in a compelling manner. As is appropriate to their research, they have wisely taken into account a wide variety of environmental expectations and demands-parental and other caregivers' child practices and goals, peer group judgments, special community values, as well as cultural and ethnic diversity. They also address possible educational rules and expectations, career stresses, sexual issues and marital conflicts. In the past, clinical applications of the concept of goodness of fit have been restricted to a modest number of community parent guidance temperament programs and have not received their due attention. In their recent work, however, Chess and Thomas, long-standing psychiatrists with forty years of clinical experience, step outside past boundaries and explore a panoply of clinical cases, including all age-periods, ranging from infancy to adulthood. Using the clinical data obtained from numerous case histories, the authors develop an insightful clinical system from which researchers and clinicians of mental health professionals, pediatricians and educators alike can benefit. Goodness of Fit: Clinical Applications, From Infancy through Adult Life aims to answer the question of how to create a healthy consonance between individuals and their environments in order to achieve optimal development, and will undoubtedly enhance both our understanding of psychological development and personality maturation as well as the clinical methods used to analyze them.
Book Synopsis Children of Working Parents by : Cheryl D. Hayes
Download or read book Children of Working Parents written by Cheryl D. Hayes and published by Washington, D.C. : National Academy Press. This book was released on 1983 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract: A series of papers discusses the effects of parental employment (mother, father or both) on children. The 7 papers discuss peer relationships in children of working parents; work status, television exposure, and educational outcomes; changing patterns of parental employment and the family-school relationship; family work patterns and community resources, the effects of mothers' employment on adolescent and early adult outcomes of young men and women; and conclusions and recommendations; plus an appendix. The editors conclude maternal employment doesn't have a standard or certain effect on children, rather the way that a family adapts to the mother working is the most significant factor. Children's experiences don't appear to be vastly different simply because a mother does or doesn't work. Income, race, family structure, individual children's personalities and family support systems are more influential than the isolated factors of a mother's working or not working. The editors recommend the development of daily living experiences which promote the child's well-being. (kbc).

Book Synopsis A Parent's Guide to 4th Grade by : Ricki Winegardner
Download or read book A Parent's Guide to 4th Grade written by Ricki Winegardner and published by Learning Express (NY). This book was released on 2001 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During your initial read of this resource, you may find that some of the key points are not yet relevant to your child. Imagine, if you will, reading the owner's manual to your car. Initially you may peruse the manual, finding that not all of the features or instructions are immediately helpful, but as you drive the car for a period of time, you may find yourself referring to the manual to find important information. Use this book in the same manner. Read initially to gain a baseline understanding of what to expect this year, then pickup the book throughout the year when you are faced with new questions or difficulties. By the end of the fourth grade, you may have a book with dog-eared pages, highlighted passages, and favorite nuggets of information.
