The contributors focus on big and small screen biopics of British celebrities from the late twentieth and twenty-first centuries, attending to their myth-making and myth-breaking potential. Related topics are the contemporary British biopic's participation in the production and consumption of celebrated lives, and the biopic's generic fluidity and hybridity as evidenced in its relationship to such forms as the bio-docudrama. Offering case studies of film biographies of literary and cultural icons, including Elizabeth I, Elizabeth II, Diana Princess of Wales, John Lennon, Shakespeare, Jane Austen, Beau Brummel, Carrington and Beatrix Potter, the essays address how British identity and heritage are interrogated in the (re)telling and showing of these lives, and how the reimagining of famous lives for the screen is influenced by recent processes of manufacturing celebrity.

A sociable, ornate, and deeply theatrical type of poetry, Della Cruscanism was associated with writers like Robert Merry, Mary Robinson, and Hannah Cowley. While Merry is the poet most commonly associated with the Della Cruscan school, this book argues that Della Cruscanism was a movement dominated by female poets and that this was one of the key reasons for the later disavowal and downgrading of its poetic accomplishments. It offers a close examination of these women writers and their role in shaping the poetic culture of the fashionable newspaper. In doing so, this study offers the first account of the feminization of the fashionable newspaper and of popular literary culture in the final years of the eighteenth century.

Figures from across the arts like Voltaire, Garrick, and Liszt were all veritable celebrities in their time, arousing curiosity and passionate loyalty from their “fans.” The rise of the press, new advertising techniques, and the marketing of leisure brought a profound transformation in the visibility of celebrities: private lives were now very much on public show. Nor was politics spared this cultural upheaval: Marie-Antoinette, George Washington, and Napoleon all experienced a political world transformed by the new demands of celebrity. And when the people suddenly appeared on the revolutionary scene, it was no longer enough to be legitimate; it was crucial to be popular too. Lilti retraces the profound social upheaval precipitated by the rise of celebrity and explores the ambivalence felt toward this new phenomenon. Both sought after and denounced, celebrity evolved as the modern form of personal prestige, assuming the role that glory played in the aristocratic world in a new age of democracy and evolving forms of media. While uncovering the birth of celebrity in the eighteenth century, Lilti's perceptive history at the same time shines light on the continuing importance of this phenomenon in today’s world.

Purpose of this thesis is then to analyze Coca Cola light’s campaign concerning success potential and develop a future outlook to outline the development of celebrity marketing as a form of modern communication between company and customer and discuss Coca Cola light’s position in celebrity marketing referring to the latest campaign. 1.2 Relevance of the topic Nowadays, due to ongoing globalization and consequently the increasing fierce competition between the global operating companies, remaining competitive is getting harder. To establish a sustainable competitive advantage, many companies use a popular testimonial to advertise their product. Especially leading brands and companies wanting to strengthen their brand equity, benefit from this type of marketing. By the successful image transfer the brand is getting an added value as well as an improved band image and a strengthen customer loyalty. But celebrity marketing has disadvantages on the other side, too. This is proved in latest studies showing that celebrity marketing’s success have decreased recently. Often, credibility of the brand suffers as a result of a celebrity having more than one advertising contract for different products. Celebrity marketing can be more than just endorsing the company’s product. It has the chance to become the connecting link between the company - and the brand it stands for – and the customer by creating emotionality and interest.
