Book Synopsis Palaeomagnetism in Fold and Thrust Belts: New Perspectives by : E.L. Pueyo

This book was released on 2016-08-23 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Palaeomagnetism is a technique used to understand complex deformation patterns in fold-and-thrust belts; it can be used to characterize the distribution, magnitude and timing of vertical axis rotations, an elusive variable using other methods. A combination of palaeomagnetic and structural geology analyses has helped to unravel the geometry and kinematics of fold-and-thrust belts around the world and of different geological ages for more than 50 years. This volume comprises three sections: the first shows thorough overviews of western Mediterranean arcs and the western Carpathians; the second depicts several examples from the Andes, the Alps, Anatolia, Pyrenees, Iberian Ranges and the Atlas; and the third shows the latest research on the use of palaeomagnetism to understand fold-and-thrust belts in 3D and 4D in a more quantitative way and it also includes some methodological proposals to avoid common errors. In the papers of the first two sections, the combination of palaeomagnetic analyses with structural data, AMS or magnetostratigraphic analyses demonstrate the usefulness of palaeomagnetism in deciphering complex deformation patterns in fold-and-thrust belts.
Book Synopsis Tracing Tectonic Deformation Using the Sedimentary Record by : Tom McCann
Download or read book Tracing Tectonic Deformation Using the Sedimentary Record written by Tom McCann and published by Geological Society of London. This book was released on 2003 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study of sediments and sedimentary basins in terms of their tectonic environment requires a multidisciplinary approach and has increasingly drawn both techniques and objectives from fields outside sedimentology. Studies presented in this volume range across a wide spectrum from the analysis of sedimentary sequence architecture at basin scale down to the chemical properties of individual grains, and include studies from a range of tectonic settings.

Book Synopsis Unified Field Mechanics Ii: Formulations And Empirical Tests - Proceedings Of The Xth Symposium Honoring Noted French Mathematical Physicist Jean-pierre Vigier by : Richard L Amoroso
Download or read book Unified Field Mechanics Ii: Formulations And Empirical Tests - Proceedings Of The Xth Symposium Honoring Noted French Mathematical Physicist Jean-pierre Vigier written by Richard L Amoroso and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2018-01-08 with total page 652 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume, recording the 10th international symposium honoring noted French mathematical physicist Jean-Pierre Vigier surveys and continues to develop Unified Field Mechanics (UFM) from the perspective of Multiverse cosmology and Topological Field Theory. UFM represents a developing paradigm shift with many new parameters extending the Standard Model to a 3rd regime of Natural Science beyond Quantum Mechanics. UFM is now experimentally testable, thus putatively able to demonstrate the existence of large-scale additional dimensionality (LSXD), test for QED violating phenomena and surmount the quantum uncertainty principle leading to a new 'Age of Discovery' paling all prior ages in the historical progression: Classical Mechanics (3D) to Quantum Mechanics (4D) and now to the birth of the 3rd regime of UFM in additional dimensionality correlating with M-Theory. Many still consider the Planck-scale as the 'basement of reality'. This could only be considered true under the limitations of the Standard Model. As we methodically enter the new regime a profound understanding of the multiverse and additional dimensionality beckons.

Book Synopsis Geology Of The Carpathian Region by : Gabor Z Foldvary
Download or read book Geology Of The Carpathian Region written by Gabor Z Foldvary and published by World Scientific Publishing Company. This book was released on 1988-02-01 with total page 585 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This can be best described as a comprehensive volume, as there is no one-volume of work done on the geology of the entire Carpathian region. It is aimed to pave the way for global geologists to examine this tectonically complex and key area and to build up a clear picture about its origin, evolution and structure. It provides factual geological material for plate tectonicians to work on and to derive basic information from. Since it is intended to be comprehensive, it will also be a useful source material for professional geologists and specialists in the earth sciences.
Book Synopsis Palaeomagnetism and Tectonics of the Mediterranean Region by : Antony Morris
Download or read book Palaeomagnetism and Tectonics of the Mediterranean Region written by Antony Morris and published by Geological Society of London. This book was released on 1996 with total page 438 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Mediterranean region represents a complex mosaic of continental, microcontinental and ophiolitic terranes, whose overall evolution has been controlled by relative movements between the African and Eurasian plates. Palaeomagnetic studies have played an important part in deciphering the sequence of tectonic events in this region. The 33 papers presented here span the full width of the Mediterranean basin and present results from Permian to Quaternary rocks.
