LAPD Homicide Detective Davie Richards is an outlier, a cop who killed a suspect to save another officer's life. While she waits for the police commission to rule on the shooting, she's called out to probe the gruesome homicide of Anya Nosova, a nineteen-year-old Russian beauty whose body is found in the Los Angeles sewer system. With her own case in limbo, Davie knows that any mistakes in the investigation could end her career. As she hunts for the murderer, somebody begins to hunt her...and it's no longer just her job that's on the line. Praise: "Smiley kicks off a hard-boiled series with a bang in this fast-paced novel that sweeps readers along quickly."—Library Journal "An excellent book about the emotions that drive some of the best policemen and women to go after their own justice, no matter the cost."—Suspense Magazine "Terrific! It's a page-turner from moment one."—Hank Phillippi Ryan, Agatha, Anthony and Mary Higgins Clark Award-winning author "Pacific Homicide combines an insider's knowledge of the LAPD with a clear-eyed, no-nonsense heroine and an entertaining dry wit. Download or read book Guns and College Homicide written by Stephen K. Boss and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2019-01-10 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At a time when mass shootings in schools and other public spaces have become commonplace, it might seem surprising that American college campuses are not magnets for murderers but sanctuaries from them. Because of remarkably effective gun-safe policies, deaths by firearms on college campuses are 1,000 times less frequent than in the U.S. public at large. Drawing on crime data submitted in compliance with the Clery Act and public reports of those crimes, this study inventories every documented homicide at a U.S. college or university between 2001 and 2016, making a compelling argument for using gun-safe campuses as guides for broader public safety.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Grips you by the throat from beginning to end."—Cleveland Plain Dealer ALONE WITH HER NEW HUSBAND on a tiny Pacific atoll, a young woman, combing the beach, finds an odd aluminum container washed up out of the lagoon, and beside it on the sand something glitters: a gold tooth in a scorched human skull. The investigation that follows uncovers an extraordinarily complex and puzzling true-crime story. Only Vincent Bugliosi, who recounted his successful prosecution of mass murderer Charles Manson in the bestseller Helter Skelter, was able to draw together the hundreds of conflicting details of the mystery and reconstruct what really happened when four people found hell in a tropical paradise. And the Sea Will Tell reconstructs the events and subsequent trial of a riveting true murder mystery, and probes into the dark heart of a serpentine scenario of death.

Book Synopsis Ghoul of Grays Harbor: Murder and Mayhem in the Pacific Northwest by : C. J. March
Download or read book Ghoul of Grays Harbor: Murder and Mayhem in the Pacific Northwest written by C. J. March and published by Dead True Crime. This book was released on 2019-02-24 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sailors trusted him with their money and their lives. That was a mistake. The lucky ones woke up with headaches in the holds of ships headed to China. The others never took another breath. Billy Gohl robbed, 'shanghaied, ' and killed sailors across the Pacific Northwest. Grays Harbor in Aberdeen, Washington was so full of bodies that newspapers dubbed it a 'floaters fleet.' His trapdoor of death was famous. In his time, Gohl murdered over 100 people, making him one of the most prolific serial killers in American history. If you're a fan of Erik Larson's Devil in the White City, Harold Schechter's Little Slaughterhouse on the Prairie, and Truman Capote's In Cold Blood, you'll love Dead True Crime. Ghoul of Grays Harbor: Murder & Mayhem in the Pacific Northwest is part of Dead True Crime, a series of historical true crime stories of serial killers, bizarre cases, and little-known murderers. Meticulously researched short reads, they're the perfect length for a flight, the beach, or a sleepless night. C.J. March brings you a series of tales that will keep you turning the pages deep into the night.
