Book excerpt: The formal modeling and analysis is of crucial importance for software development processes following the model based approach. We present the formalism of Interval Probabilistic Timed Graph Transformation Systems (IPTGTSs) as a high-level modeling language. This language supports structure dynamics (based on graph transformation), timed behavior (based on clocks, guards, resets, and invariants as in Timed Automata (TA)), and interval probabilistic behavior (based on Discrete Interval Probability Distributions). That is, for the probabilistic behavior, the modeler using IPTGTSs does not need to provide precise probabilities, which are often impossible to obtain, but rather provides a probability range instead from which a precise probability is chosen nondeterministically. In fact, this feature on capturing probabilistic behavior distinguishes IPTGTSs from Probabilistic Timed Graph Transformation Systems (PTGTSs) presented earlier. Following earlier work on Interval Probabilistic Timed Automata (IPTA) and PTGTSs, we also provide an analysis tool chain for IPTGTSs based on inter-formalism transformations. In particular, we provide in our tool AutoGraph a translation of IPTGTSs to IPTA and rely on a mapping of IPTA to Probabilistic Timed Automata (PTA) to allow for the usage of the Prism model checker. The tool Prism can then be used to analyze the resulting PTA w.r.t. probabilistic real-time queries asking for worst-case and best-case probabilities to reach a certain set of target states in a given amount of time.

Book excerpt: Systems of strongly correlated electrons are at the heart of recent developments in condensed matter theory. They have applications to phenomena like high-Tc superconductivity and the fractional quantum hall effect. Analytical solutions to such models, though mainly limited to one spatial dimension, provide a complete and unambiguous picture of the dynamics involved. This volume is devoted to such solutions obtained using the Bethe Ansatz, and concentrates on the most important of such models, the Hubbard model. The reprints are complemented by reviews at the start of each chapter and an extensive bibliography.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: BioPolymers could be either natural polymers – polymer naturally occurring in Nature, such as cellulose or starch…, or biobased polymers that are artificially synthesized from natural resources. Since the late 1990s, the polymer industry has faced two serious problems: global warming and anticipation of limitation to the access to fossil resources. One solution consists in the use of sustainable resources instead of fossil-based resources. Hence, biomass feedstocks are a promising resource and biopolymers are one of the most dynamic polymer area. Additionally, biodegradability is a special functionality conferred to a material, bio-based or not. Very recently, facing the awareness of the volumes of plastic wastes, biodegradable polymers are gaining increasing attention from the market and industrial community. This special issue of Molecules deals with the current scientific and industrial challenges of Natural and Biobased Polymers, through the access of new biobased monomers, improved thermo-mechanical properties, and by substitution of harmful substances. This themed issue can be considered as collection of highlights within the field of Natural Polymers and Biobased Polymers which clearly demonstrate the increased interest in this field. We hope that this will inspire researchers to further develop this area and thus contribute to futures more sustainable society.”

Book excerpt: This book is a guide for young public relations practitioners and students on how to ideate, plan and execute a public relations campaign to create awareness and mobilise a community on a cause, for a fundraiser or a corporate social responsibility programme. It will also be useful for communication practitioners in the corporate, government or non-profit sectors who require knowledge and skills on how to plan and carry out suitable campaigns to engage with important stakeholders. Based on consulting experience in managing public relations campaigns, the authors provide a step-by-step process on how to conduct pre-programme research, identify objectives, develop strategies, techniques and publicity tools, define roles for the team, crowdsource, execute the plan within a specified budget and perform post-programme evaluation. This book highlights the process of designing and managing a successful public relations campaign by using case studies on environmental and digital public relations campaigns.

Drawing on international contributions, the chapters explore fundamental ideas about theatre and drama from a global perspective with connections made to action and identity. The main section of the book showcases authors from around the world discussing their perspectives of what is happening within particular countries and exploring a range of ideas and issues that relate to vitally important matters including community, socialism, post-colonialism, diversity, inclusion and more. The final section of the book brings together teams of authors from citizenship and drama education, who discuss the essential elements of citizenship education and encourage insight and practical collaboration from drama experts. The book is unique in presenting dynamic interaction between citizenship and drama experts and encouraging academics and professionals to develop their own work in these areas. It will be of great interest to academics, researchers and students in the fields of citizenship education, drama education and all those interested in promoting social justice through education.
