Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Early in his career, Mark Rucker's father suggested a life practice: create a file of things that are important to you and add to that file as you learn. So, Mark created a "Leadership" file. Whenever he learned a valuable lesson in leadership, he added it to the file. He did this throughout his entire thirty-two-year career with Disney and beyond. Many of these lessons came in the form of advice, which he would request from friends and colleagues over coffee, helping him solve his greatest leadership challenges at work as well as the day-to-day personal challenges of life and marriage. Over Coffee with the Mouse is the culmination of an entire lifetime of leadership advice from a grateful man who rose to global leadership within the Disney organization. Whether you're an executive struggling with hard choices or an aspiring leader looking to hone your skills and avoid mistakes, you won't want to miss this book.

Book excerpt: Susan Konig's first book offers a uniquely frank look at the modern family by "an exceptional humorist on the order of Erma Bombeck and Jean Kerr" (Library Journal). The Konigs can barely turn around in a city apartment that seems to be shrinking. With Baby #3 on the way, they take drastic measures: They buy a house and move to The 'Burbs. Countless sticky adventures ensue. In her hilariously unflinching account of motherhood and domestic pursuits, Konig shares a supermom's little secrets, from the importance of Cheerios to the truth about Bambi's mother ("she was running an errand").

Book excerpt: A beautifully designed introduction to art history by way of artworks that feature the mouse—from the ancient world to drawings by Picasso, Disney, and Art Spiegelman. Across centuries and civilizations, artists have used the mouse—the planet’s most common mammal after us—to illustrate our myths and beliefs. Mice have appeared as Japanese symbols of good luck or medieval emblems of evil, in Arab fables, Russian political satire and Nazi propaganda, as scientific tools and to help us challenge the way we see nature. With more than 80 rarely reproduced works—including paintings by Hieronymus Bosch and Gustav Klimt, a silkscreen by Andy Warhol, a print by Hokusai, a photograph by André Kertész, a sculpture by Claes Oldenburg, a video installation by Bruce Nauman, a performance by Joseph Beuys, and many more—Lorna Owen has created an engaging presentation of an extraordinary range. The pieces, which represent every period of visual art, are accompanied by Owen’s intriguing text about the story behind each work. She has combined her passion for art and her empathy for the unsung archetype of the animal kingdom to explain not only how or why the artist came to use the mouse as a subject, but how the art, in the end, reveals more about us than it could ever reveal about this humble creature.

It portrays the day to day happenings in the operation of a "Storefront" and situations arising during his working one on one against the car thieves outside the "Storefront" surroundings. Joseph A. Fitch was born in Clay County, Indiana, and graduated from Sugar Ridge Township School at Ashboro in rural Clay County. He attended Indiana State University at Terre Haute, then applied for admission to the Indiana State Police Academy and was accepted. Upon his graduation from the Academy he was assigned the Indiana Toll Road where he served as a patrolman. During his first year as a police officer he qualified to be a member of the Toll Road District Pistol Team and soon became a member of the Top 20 pistol shots in the Department. A position he maintained the remainder of his career. During the last ten years of his career he was a member of the Indiana State Police Pistol Team that represented the Indiana State Police in national competitions. Trooper Fitch transferred to the Terre Haute Post from the Toll Road and was promoted to Sergeant and assigned to the Headquarters Vehicle Theft Section. During this portion of his career he worked undercover in two "Sting" or "Storefront" operations buying stolen vehicles from the car thieves and had minor involvement in a third undercover "Sting." His retirement from the Indiana State Police did not end his career in law enforcement. He served as Sheriff of Sullivan County, Indiana, and retired from law enforcement after serving as the Sullivan County Indiana Prosecutors Investigator for seven years making a total of almost 40 years in law enforcement.

Book excerpt: Now in paperback--from the author of the acclaimed Whoredom in Kimmage, a moving, controversial, and supremely intelligent memoir of a bright and vulnerable teenager's hellish summer job. In 1978, Rosemary Mahoney, an aspiring young writer of seventeen, wrote her personal idol Lillian Hellman inquiring whether the famed woman of American letters might need domestic help for the summer. When Hellman responded affirmatively, Mahoney imagined an idyll on Martha's Vineyard of mentoring and friendship. But in reality Mahoney's summer unfolded into an exquisite and grueling exercise in humiliation at the hands of the acerbic Hellman and her retinue of celebrated acquaintances. By turns heartbreaking and uproariously funny, A Likely Story portrays the coming-of-age of a brilliant and troubled young woman--a universal tale of illusions shattered and an object lesson in the often misdirected search for heroes.
