Book Synopsis El paisaje de la arquitectura / The Landscape of Arquitecture by : Mayka García-Hípola
Download or read book El paisaje de la arquitectura / The Landscape of Arquitecture written by Mayka García-Hípola and published by Fundación Univ. San Pablo. This book was released on 2017-12-13 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. In The Landscape of Architecture the author has remarkably surpassed the contradiction between a necessarily logical-linear explanation, to facilitate the intelligibility of the content, and its vast complexity. This is an inescapable complexity for a trustworthy description and analysis of contemporary knowledge. Commitment to our historical time involves assuming that the logical positivist paradigm has been wrapped, not displaced, by the paradigm of complexity. The principle of causality, and the independence between “cause and effect” of the observer, is questioned by the complex paradigm, for which, in the management of knowledge, the observer is ascribed as data or event of the process itself. In her essay professor García-Hípola leads us to theoretical-critical scenarios through her own experience, including her protagonism in the processes, reflections, and issues that she analyzes. From this complexity, the transversality between author, spectator, teacher and creator is claimed, literally in the quotes of the experiences about Hieronymus Bosch’s work, or in those where the architect is subjected to new roles that come from matter’s behavior, as a true ecologist, or those of the anthropologist who explores human action and its detritus in the landscape, as in her project for Villajoyosa, veritable treatise of “field architecture”.
Book Synopsis Oteiza's Selected Writings by : Jorge de Oteiza
Download or read book Oteiza's Selected Writings written by Jorge de Oteiza and published by University of Nevada Press. This book was released on 2003 with total page 556 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jorge Oteiza was one of the principal artists and art theorists of the twentieth century. The radical deconstructionism of his formal "disoccupations" of space, considered by many a precursor of minimalism, won his the 1957 Grand International Prize for Sculpture at the Sao Paolo Biennial, the most coveted prize for a sculptor at the time. Soon afterward, however, he concluded, "I no longer need my statues. I am no longer a sculptor." Oteiza then staged a second career as influential as the first, as an art theorist, urbanist, architech, and cultural agitator, turning into a sharmanic and controversial figure. His relentless aesthetic education of the Basques laid the culture groundwork for the building of the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. A precursor of "the end of art" and the ethnographic turn, Oteiza has been heralded by Frank Gehry and Richard Serra as one of the fundamental artists of our time. He is now being honored by a series of international exhibits.

Book Synopsis Handbook of Research on Visual Computing and Emerging Geometrical Design Tools by : Amoruso, Giuseppe
Download or read book Handbook of Research on Visual Computing and Emerging Geometrical Design Tools written by Amoruso, Giuseppe and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2016-04-11 with total page 1035 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Visual computing and descriptive geometry are multidisciplinary fields addressing the handling of images, 3D models, and other computer graphics. These ideas are experiencing a revival due to emergent technologies and applications available to developers. Based in traditional forms of design and architecture, these fields are currently experiencing a bounty of new research based on old principles. The Handbook of Research on Visual Computing and Emerging Geometrical Design Tools seeks to add to this knowledge base by considering these technologies from a designer’s perspective rather than reiterating the principles of computer science. It combines aspects of geometry and representation with emerging tools for CAD, generation, and visualization while addressing the digital heritage of such fields. This book is an invaluable resource for developers, students of both graphic and computer-generated design, researchers, and designers.

Book Synopsis Intervening Spaces by : Nycole Prowse
Download or read book Intervening Spaces written by Nycole Prowse and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2018-05-07 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Intervening Spaces examines the interconnectedness between bodies, time and space - the oscillating and at times political impact that occurs when bodies and space engage in non-conventional ways. Bodies intervene with space, creating place. Likewise, space can reconceptualise notions of the subject-body. Such respatialisation does not occur in a temporal vacuum. The moment can be more significant than a millennia in producing new ways to see corporeal connections with space. Drawing on theorists as diverse as Foucault, Deleuze, Guattari, Heidegger, Merleau-Ponty, Lefebvre and Grosz, temporal and spatial dichotomies are dissolved, disrupted and interrupted via interventions—revealing new ways of inhabiting space. The volume crosses disciplines contributing to the fields of Sociology, Literature, Performance Arts, Visual Arts, Architecture and Urban Design. Contributors are Burcu Baykan, Pelin Dursun Çebi, Michelle Collins, Christobel Kelly, Anthi Kosma, Ana Carolina Lima e Ferreira, Katerina Mojanchevska, Clementine Monro, Katsuhiko Muramoto, Nycole Prowse, Shelley Smith, Nicolai Steinø and İklim Topaloğlu.

Book Synopsis Concrete Invention by : Gabriel Pérez-Barreiro
Download or read book Concrete Invention written by Gabriel Pérez-Barreiro and published by Turner. This book was released on 2013 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Concrete Invention is focused on the development of geometric abstraction in Latin America (Montevideo, Buenos Aires, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Caracas) throughout the decades of the thirties and seventies in the twentieth century. It includes theoretical essays about the movement, personal reflections by contemporary artists, and a visual section featuring specific themes (geometry, illusion, dialogue, vibration, universalism). It ends with a questionnaire given to well-known theorists about the continuity, value and influence of geometric abstraction in the present. Resembling an artist's book, it includes a fold-out piece by artist José León Cerrillo, which forms a play on words with the publication's title.
